89-91 Tail lights. My left lens is becoming / beginning to separate . Best way to repair? I've heard placing the entire thing in the oven to loosen the glue, take the unit apart and reglue?
Sure! And I am prepared to do so. just thought I would pick the brains of another who has done this, before I try and destroy my decent S5 brake assembly. lol.

mines doing the same thing, same side even. my thought on it was to take it apart, and clear silicone it back together, don't see why that wouldn't work. Epoxy may eat away at the plastic....I don't think silicone will?
Beautiful paint! Is that the original factory paint job?
Thank you, the previous owner (Stanis) didn't think so, but was unsure. We agreed it's very well done. The sunroof panel has what seems to be the original paint with slight bubble rust. Looking for glass moonroof! Thanks for the tips on the Brake lens guys

After some reading , I've heard as long as the existing glue is not crusty you can place the unit back in the oven so the bonding agent melts once again and the unit will seal itself. Otherwise clear rtv should be fine as a last resort from what I've seen . I'm still hesitant to place the unit in the oven! Haha.
Don't worry about putting it in the oven. Just keep your temperature below 210*F and it should be fine. I've done S3 and S4 lights with no issues. The S3's had warped lenses before I put them in the oven. I guess natural sunlight can warp them if it's hot enough outside. I had to get new material to make new lenses. It almost wasn't worth it, but I didn't want to buy another set of S3 tails. Good luck.
Edit: a good rule of thumb I learned with the S3 tail lights is: if it's too hot to touch, pull it out of the oven.
