However, I found that the clips that held the bra in place would rub on the paint so I stopped using it and eventually got rid of it.
Thats a plastidipped bra, easily good to 130 mph without flapping. I used to have
various bras and they all disappointed me in one way or another. This one has
lasted 4 or 5 years now and has been retouched a bit just last year. I have a bra
because I have a lot of ugly paint chips up front and some other issues, so the
bra makes it look nice and hides the issues.

BTW, until 2007 I lived in Zelinople for about 17 years.

As you are practically a local boy, you need to make the pilgrimage back to Pittsburgh next year to display your car at the Vintage Grand Prix. This year we had 7 RX-7s, a '79, an '83 an '84, an '85, an '88 and two '93s. It was the best showing in a while, but more is always better. We out numbered the Nissan 240Z and 280Z cars but not the Bug-Eyed Sprites.

Does the plastidip actually protect the paint from further damage or does it just hide what's already there?

The thicker you put it on the more protection. It prevents further acne for the most
part. I had to touch it up because it was getting scarred in a few places that exposed
paint. The paint under those areas seem to be ok, so I would say it helped protect it.

I'd love to make the trip up there just for the cruise through the WV mountains but
its an 8 hour drive. Definitely an over nighter.

We had red GSL-SE that was a daily driver named Natasha. We wore her out! Boris sat in the garage for 15 years and has just come out of hibernation. He did require carb rebuild, clean & coat fuel tank, catalytic converter but now he's the Bomb!

This is my 1981 Mazda rx7. I´m from Germany and it is my first car ever, i´ve now owned it for nearly two years. I´ve drove to the netherlands, rotterdam to pick it up because rx7´s are so hard to find here

Been a little while since I checked in on this thread. Some great looking cars in here, glad it still gets updated! Might as well add a few pics of my 83 S "version 3". I've had this car since 2001 and it's been through many changes, I completely redid the whole thing last year (again lol). Lots of custom touches on this one - FC subframe moved up into the frame 1" (completely rebuilt front frame rails), Tri link/Panhard bar, new lower control arm mounts (adjustable), lots of other goodies. More things planned in the coming months. One of these days I should get some of the build pics together and post them up since everyone enjoys seeing metal work and such, but in the meantime, here she is

Very nice!
What was you reasoning on notching the frame for the FC subframe? I'm considering the swap for my '79, and that's a new one to me.

edit: Those flares are exactly what I want, if I can't do/find the IMSA kit like Fungus Mungus. ZG/universal?

Thank you! They are "JDM/Miata" style ones from eBay. They are actually the same style as the ones Fungus Mungus use, except mine are carbon fiber. I had ZG flares on one of my other cars and was not a fan of how they fit, especially the rear ones. These fit much nicer.

As for the subframe, I really need to make a thread about it - basically if you put the FC subframe right up against the bottom of the FB frame rails (with a spacer on the rear part of the subframe) like many do (and I did previously) the roll center goes to hell unless the ride height is set very high. It is a problem low FC's experience as well, and there are very few companies that make new ball joints to correct the issue. I've seen guys on the facebook groups modify the subframe itself to move it up, but in my case the FB's frame rails had a ton of rust, so it made more sense to just keep the subframe stock and rebuild the frame rails.

I've seen people smarter than me suggest that it actually needs to go up closer to 2", but I did 1" since that's about as high as you can move it and still have the engine fit under the hood and in the trans tunnel without making custom motor mounts etc (although I did had to use FB rubber mounts, the FC ones were too tall, no big deal).

I'm no engineer, I just figure it out as I go along. It's a ton of work, but I'm happy I did it.
