Thank you! Haven't checked in awhile myself. I got married recently and been super busy with wedding details, vacation and looking for a house 😀

Before I got married I did install a new windshield on the car. I had always wanted to get the proper windshield with a frit band back on the car. I had made a thread looking for the right windshield and the process of me finding the right one cause it was a struggle to find. There's more detail in this thread about my windshield situation:

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/windshield-frit-band-1103602/

I'm very pleased with the outcome! PGW is the best glass and so glad it's still made. Here's the final result. Hopefully more to come soon!

Thank you! 😊 It's definitely exceeded my original goals, but I still have some things planned. Next the SSR wheels and then I'll go from there.

Do it! Haha having done both now I definitely am glad I reinstalled them. Just looks "proper" I think. Extra door protection isn't bad either.

Definitely prefer with the black body mouldings. Looks better on all 1st gens in my opinion, but particularly so with lighter colours and especially white and yellow. Yours is one of my favourite 1st gens by the way

I definitely agree on the moldings 👍

Haha! She's been in the garage a little more yes, but still getting loved lol. Hope all is well with you Ben. Good hearing from you!

I just noticed this month marks 5 years on this engine build. It's flown by. Thanks to you and everyone else that helped with this car!

5 years on this engine

This month makes 5 years that I've been running this turbo 6 port engine. Still running strong as ever. I decided to pull off the intake manifolds and brushed paint thinner on the blue engine housings. Back to original aluminum on top. I'll get by the spark plugs and try to get the front cover another day. Tricky and have to be extremely careful in the engine bay. Embarrassing that I had that blue paint all over in the engine bay before. Don't know what I was thinking young and dumb lol. I'm thinking black irons/polished housings next engine. Here's some pictures I took while my hood gets repaired at the paint shop. They're doing rock chip repair and they will reclear coat the entire hood to make it look like no repair was done.

Other than that I should have the SSR wheels on in a month. It's been a long time coming. Will post pics once those are on. Here's the rears ready. That's all for now.

Perhaps you were trying to match the original blue spark plug wires.

Beautiful as ever!

Haha! Yes, we'll just go with that. I really didn't like it after the engine and manifolds were all together. It was too much and the color changed after a few heat cycles which didn't look good. Lesson learned. Neutral is best for me and cleanliness Thank you!

Got the hood back from repair. No more rock chip and clearcoat looks amazing. They wetsanded and buffed and looks just as good as before. I thought I took a picture of the rock chip, but I can't find it. Anyway, the hood is back on and here's a after shot.

Turned out great!

You may want to consider having the clear paint protector film installed. I've had it on one of my rides for ten years, since new, and the paint looks just as good as it did when the car rolled off the dealer's lot--i.e., not a single paint chip.

Thank you Kameron!

I definitely have considered it. I'll have to call around to more shops. One quote I received was $799 for the front bumper and 24" up the fenders and hood. If I wanted the entire hood and fenders included with the bumper it jumps to $1299.

It is expensive, but worth it if done properly.

You don't want to put it on too soon after paint work though...need some time to fully outgas/cure.

Great point! It will be awhile before I can do this anyways.

Thank you! Soon!

Yesterday in Las Vegas we had a show called Rotorcon. It's a new event on a yearly rotary gathering. Was a great turn out! I was fortunate enough to win best 1st gen rx7! Woohoo! Had a great time and saw some nice cars!

Here's some shots of mine from the day

Right on and congrats, but it doesn't surprise me. I doubt there would be a nicer first gen.

Thanks Kameron! ^

Well, I was going to update with some pictures of the SSR wheels refinished, but it looks like photobucket is no longer hosting 3rd party. All my pictures from this thread are gone unless I pay $399 a year. Looks like I might let this thread die and start a new one. Should've just uploaded images straight to the site.

The more pictures I see of this car the better. Just beautiful.

I love that you've had a clear goal from the start wrt the white/black/silver aesthetics. That the tires and wheels are in proportion, no spoiler. Super clean, plenty of power.
