Just got off the dyno with our road race series6 20b rx7. The old engine served us for 4 years and 80 hours of torture @ 690rwhp.

The new engine has a new design street port which has made more power and torque.

The car is racing at the Edmonton Indy on July 26th. And has lost 120lbs for this year.
I will post the dyno results tomorrow.

12 psi 565rwhp.... 490rwtq
15 psi 680rwhp.... 590rwtq
18 psi 740rwhp.... 645rwtq

 

That's a ton of power for the boost your running. You guys running billet aluminum rotors or something? Pics or videos of this beast?

No billet rotors. The engine is a very tight street port 20b. Will have dyno sheets psted tomorrow.

We are running the gt42rx t6 and we use a 50% c16 and 94 pump mix.

 

That is one bad *** looking race car. I wanna see that thing in motion! I guess those NRS seals have something to do with the engine tightness.

No the only reason we used the ceramic seals was to prolong the life of the rotor housings. The old engine had alot of wear on the housings using a steel seal. We have yet to have a problem with deflection or strength using a custom steel seal.

All of our other 20b cars are using steel seals and are on a similar power level as this engine. As a matter of fact we have a gt42r street car that makes more power than this car and he is using conventional seals.

Yes we used new series 5 rotor housings and all new cosmo 13b plates machined inhouse to accomidate the larger bolts and new thread for front plate. The only used parts were rotors crank and large iron.

Do you have any Videos of this badboy? what kind of port are you using and at what rpm did you make that torque?

 

Street Port. We are finding that using a bridge port and the factory intake with petrol makes for alot of unusable rpm hp and considerably less torque. This combo will compliment the 3.73 rear ratio and the large 18 370 tire. Also fuel consumption is alot less by using alot less rpms.

Peak torque is 645 @ high around 5 k and holds over 700 hp till 8500rpm. So he will be shifting at 7k with this new torque and top gear which is 1;1 will be rolling the car at 180mph @ 8500rpm.

Very excited to be testing the car on this race which has two .8 mile straight stretches! We will be racing against a ls2 powered fd3s as well.

Thanks for the props but the fit and finish is all the owner Wouter Bouman! All that we are responsible for is the HP.

Rear dif is now an 8.8 cobra irs and the trans is a Jerico dog 5 speed. The car is now 2600lbs and was 2730 last year.

Should have some great video footage after the weekend.

That thing is a beast and very well sorted out. I love the fact that it's just a street port. I always felt that going bridge was unnecessary if you ported the engine correctly and matched the turbo for your specific rpm power bands. I mean why rev to the stratosphere when it's unnecessary. Not only does it prolong the 20b's life but like you already said, you save some gas as well. I can't believe how quiet it is at WOT. Would you mind telling us what the exhaust consist of? I've never heard a rotary race car sound that tamed.

Would love to see it go around the Nurburgring.
