Hand-Machined Acrylic Shift *****

Hey guys, maybe you saw my gauge of interest thread in the 2nd gen specific forum. Anyway, I just purchased the 3 month vendor license, and am now ready to start selling these.

Here's how it works. They'll pretty much be made to order- PM or email me at balk007@aol.com with the type of car you have, so I know what to tap the threads to.

Next is the engraving. So far, this is the only engraving I've done:

More designs will follow, and I'll post them here as I have them done. What I have in mind are: the old Mazda "M" symbol, the "Rotary Engine" badge logo found on 79/80's & REPUs, Mazda script (old, ~1974 era, & current), RE mazda symbol. But as far as the engraving goes, anything is possible. So have an open mind here.

Finally, let me know what size height you want (tall or short, tall being ~2.5", short being 2.0")

That's all for now, final price is:

$60 shipped in the US, $65 shipped out side

PM or email me if interested, or if you have any questions/comments/feedback/etc. Thank you!

Landon

Yep, it could be dyed grey, or really any color, so it would be transparent, but not clear. I've got some I worked on over the weekend, I'll post pictures tomorrow, in the sun light

OK, been busy with school, but here's some update-age.

Diameter of the ones in the original post are ~1.5", but I can't recall exactly

A blue "***** shifter" I did for a friend. About 5" long, but only an inch in diameter. It's dyed blue, but due to the blue gauges, it may look *a little* more blue in this picture.

Also, by the weekend I'll have pictures of some dyed green *****, and other engraving examples.

As for shapes, they're pretty customizeable, keeping in mind that it's a manual metal lathe, so flowing organic curves are pretty much out of the question with my current tooling set up.

I'm working on doing weighted *****- I believe the solution is to drill the hole twice deep, & fill the extra depth with solder, as its a cheap, dense, easy to melt, relatively non-toxic, solution for adding weight.

Some acrylic comes in some really crazy colors, but it will add to the cost of the **** a bit. Here, check this out for opal/moon stone type looks: http://www.woodturningz.com/Inlace_A...le_Blanks.aspx

Anyway, stay tuned, I'll get more updates, picture wise, by the weekend!

Thanks

Landon

2 more *****, these are opaque, pearl blue/white, & they really look good! They're both the same ****, each picture is at a different angle, to show the different swirl pattern as it varies around the outter diameter

Oh, right-- I forgot to mention the intricately colored (not the dyed, though) adds $15 each, as the material block is $10, and shipping of the material's $5

They're not heavy, but not feather light either. Probably about 4 ounces, I'll get one on a scale in the next few days & take a picture. Obviously height & diameter dimensions have different effects on weight.

sorry for the delay, but just weighed one.

Reading ~83 grams, ~2.9 ounces. So, not too heavy, but not feather light either. Working currently on on weight addition! =)

Thanks, & stay tuned.
