I talked to Ken yesterday on the phone and he said that he would let us know within 1 week if he will build it or not. It would have NO holes. Thats the best way to do it.

Friend of mine wants one too.. so put me down for 2 of them.

staticguitar313 12-08-08 06:03 AM

only $600+ shipping? really? no wiper holes though? no plastic mounting?

money 12-08-08 07:48 PM

how is the hood going to stand when it open? is it going to work just like the oem rear hatch?

onefast3gen 12-08-08 09:03 PM

I say make every hole like stock except wiper hole.

shineautoproject 12-09-08 06:21 PM

We can produce this. Thats not a problem. Ive asked many of the members of the board if they would be interested. We just have to get to it thats all.

We would prefer to do it without any holes. Holes can be drilled anytime, but you can fill carbon fiber :).

I bought mine from Summit Racing. It is $289 plus $90 for shipping. Ken PLEASE make this.

Is this a 100% stock replacement? Take stuff off old hatch and put it on new including my 99spec wing? If so, I'm in.

calculon 12-11-08 07:52 AM

You'd have to drill holes to mount your wing, just as you would if you had a wingless stock hatch to begin with. So. . . you're in? :)

thewird 12-11-08 02:26 PM

So all the plastics and such would be able to go back on no problem?

FDokinawa 12-12-08 08:40 AM

Im just wondering about the holes for the hinges and shocks. those would be very hard to mount without some sort of support to screw into. and will there be a latch bracket molded in? wing, washer and wiper holes not on it are actually better for me.. also dont care about interior mounting holes.

depending on all that you can put me down for 3 of them.

eyecandy 12-12-08 04:48 PM

If this will be a true dry carbon hatch count me in.

As far as the mounting of the oem parts, if the "general" hole marks are there like all of Shine's other parts that would work, not that I am looking to put it back in but it would be nice to have it there if need be.

money 12-13-08 01:10 AM

i'm in if ken can get the hatch to have :;

I have a question for you guys. Of all the manufacturers that currently provide a CF rear hatch, which in your opinions has the best mounting? I ask because if they can do it, we can do it :)

None of them, their fitment blows donkey dick. Ken quit playing around and make this already!

money 12-15-08 03:57 PM

no of them.... that is why.. you have to step up for it ( other can't do it...does not mean you can't have it done?.. i know u can do it, ken... so make it!!

Troux 12-15-08 04:04 PM

According to 7parts.com (who makes a wet carbon hatch and everything else), the stock hatch shocks can't be used as they are too strong. I would think you could find a slightly different location to mount the shocks to the hatch so that they would exert less force while still opening it up enough.

thewird 12-15-08 07:48 PM

Since the hatch is one of the heavier parts on our cars that can be lightened a lot with carbon fibre without affecting anything. I think a lot of people are looking at this as "save 24 pounds for $500-$600 without looking like you have carbon fibre". That is why being able to put all the stock stuff back on would be awesome.

+1 on hydrolic issue.. is oem going to work out with the dry carbon?

i will be in on this in the future, probably when production begins, need to scrape up money after the holidays.

will the inside be smooth?? i dont like the whole plastic cover thing going on back there.

FDokinawa 12-21-08 05:57 AM

All I need is to be able to mount it to the stock hinges and latch it. the stock shocks would be nice, but are not nessisary. And like I said before, I also dont need holes for wings, wipers or anything else. I can also guarentee an order of at least 4 hatches, and mabey more.

Matt Hey 12-21-08 12:56 PM

I think we will have to come up with our own solution on the hatch shocks. I think almost everyone is going to want the hinges and latch to work like stock. It would be nice if the under side looked ok with out the stock plastic to further save weight. I would imagine some would want the holes at least marked for drilling to put the stock plastic back on too.

Yea, he should make it without the holes for the plastics. If you want to retain the plastics then you can drill your own holes.

calculon 12-22-08 08:30 AM

^ agreed.
