FD3S: Bringing back the Spec-G rear roof spoiler
Alright guys. We discontinued this item roughly 2 years ago because of reported fitment issues. We couldn't figure out what the issue was at the time, so we put it on the backburner.
Recently, there has been some requests to bring it back as it compliments the Lo Profile Spoiler we offer fairly well. I decided to pull out a spoiler made years ago and test fit it on my car. Fits perfect. Just to make sure, I test fit it on another car we have here at the shop. Fits perfect. Luckily, there's another FD sitting here at the shop. I try it out. DOESN'T fit perfect. HUH?? What's goin on? I realized the cars that it did fit well on were 94 FD's. The other FD is a 93. We check the oem product #'s on the rear glass and they actually have slightly different numbers. FINALLY. Mystery solved. The product was good afterall. The 94 and 95 Rear glass has slightly more curvature.
I had a buddy, who has a 93 FD, take the spoiler to a bodyshop for modification for better fitment. Turned out pretty good. Those of you who have a 93 and are interested in this spoiler might want to consult your local bodyshop before purchase. I'm just letting you know it can be made to work and has been done.
