The only reason I haven't dropped off the doors yet is because he has other projects to work on and the doors are on hold. Please keep your negative comments to yourselves...and it is JdmGtDriver or JD for short just as long as you get is right

I spoke to Ken yesterday. He IS NOT TAKING MONEY NOR DOES HE WANT ANYONE TO CALL OR PAY FOR THIS PART.

The first panel literally is going to be done Wednesday or Thursday, that panel goes to JT for actually giving Ken the sunroof from which the panel is made from, the second panel goes to me for other reasons that are similiar, from #3 on down to 27 or 30 how many ever people actually show up to buy and are still interested, once he has the pictures posted and the first few done #3,4,5 etc he will start just accepting money from people, probably a week or two away tops.

I am so sorry to bring up a dead thread but i have been useing the search feature and there are no new or up-to-date threads on this and i would like to know if this part was ever made? The FC i am purchasing has a really messed up panel and i would hate to buy another sunroof panel and skeleton from Ebay. If the thread and part research is dead then ok but i would really like to be on the list if this is still happening.

No need to act like an *******. I wasn't being a dick like you, so speak for yourself. Anyways!!! Talked to Ken yesterday. Putting my 7 in storage for now with a cover and delivering the doors soon so they can get started on them. Trust7, don't let ppl ruin your day.

JD, hard to do when you keep getting asked the same inane, redundant questions over and over again, but because in my mind this IS a community I feel responsible for/to answer any/all questions within my purview/skillset etc. But thanks for saying it anyhow.

Red Dragon if you simply read the post 3 directly above what you wrote all your dreams and wishes, or just the answers to your question will come true.

Ken, or saying what's going on they assume you're in on the

every sentence.

You going Carbon Fiber, Carbon Kevlar or Fiber Glass?

Red - true

E - Probably, you feel old ugh that makes me dinosaur old then I guess, I think FRP for my "street rx" not sure yet about my other one, honestly I just see carbon fiber now and because without looking very closely you can not discern good carbon from ****, for example. My 93 CYM I had paid about 5k total to bring the only mazdaspeed approved/badged carbon fiber hood from Japan over, have it painted cym underneath and on top, perfectly matched to the car (had the mica brought from JP (you may or may not know mica is the metallic flaking used inside paint to make the flake/shimmer effect look etc, it is made from the scraping of shells actually. Because of water temperature and chemical makeup etc of different locations in the world no mica is the same as another and thus provides a different sheen, color temp, look etc) hopefully the insert was something you didnt know and you didnt just read all that for no reason lol.) It (the hood) was basically nuts looking on the car and in my mind was THE only option for replacement for such a rare car, NOTHING I did to that car was "normal" if anything was touched at all, I meticulously replaced every single panel inside the car with 99 panels when they became available even though the 23k original miles had no panel inside flaking. Anyhow all this is to say I see carbon parts now on cars, STI's, Audi's, Honda's etc and I basically cringe because sigh carbon is rice now.

I know I know I said it but it is man, look around the freeways and streets its everywhere, theres a carbon fiber hood on the guys sentra two streets over from you I promise.
The ONLY acceptable use of carbon fiber parts now in my mind is if they are painted to match the car OR you have EVERY SINGLE PART of the car in carbon for an RX that would be hood, fenders, doors and hatch THEN and only then can you keep your carbon clear and then it would look ridiculous anyway.

Carbon Kevlar is nice but you can't really tell it apart from anything else far away so.....

/rant /facepalm x2 /paint your carbon its rice otherwise.

What are you going with ?

On the subject of Carbon i have to agree with Trust on this one. My mustang has a carbon fiber hood, but after 5 minutes of being on the car i decided to paint it. Carbon is everywhere now, and if i do buy a CF hood or this panel for the RX7 i would paint it as soon as possible.

Plus One, all my CK is painted. It's not for looks, or show or bleh,
its for stupid strength and raw durability. I'm going Carbon kevlar
like my fenders and hood. (Both painted btw). Incase of rollover
at autox again I should have about 1.25/1.45 more tensile strength
to take the impact of a plus 90mph flip. Worth the extra few hundred
dollars IMHO. Plus Kevlar doesn't shrapnel quite like carbon fiber,
making it a bit less dangerous in case it is blown to pieces.

Carbons looks great on show cars, it works great on race
cars. I don't show, I go. /rant

I have flipped my fair share of cars, all in all I prefer sheet metal to any composite but they have their place, like in/on my driveshaft :P ever seen an rx7 spin to 10k rpm and free fall 14 seconds to idle ? lolz.

So that's where mica comes from...I learned something new today.

Well I dont know if there is any new updates on this but i found out that Aeroworks got their site back up and running and they have their CF panel for sale. I would really like to see Shine bring out a nice hybrid or CF panel before i go over there and just buy an Aeroworks one out of impulse.

Honestly the price does not matter to me, only the quality and the customer service. I have dealt with R&D like this before when i was waiting for a Rachet shifter for my car. The venders on a forum i am on ask us questions about what would we like for their product. Currently TCI is the only company that has made one and B&M has been working on one for 3 years now and still has not released a working prototype. I would rather go with TCI though because i have heard nothing but great things from them and alot of my friends use their torque converters and transmissions. B&M has been having some issues ever since they bought out Hurst.

On this matter i would rather wait and deal with a company that people trust rather than just go to the first company that has it available. I do not want to go over there, buy the panel, and find out the fitment either sucks or the product is such low quality that it was not even worth my time looking at it. From other products here that i have seen and what people have posted about them, to me Shine has a way better product and i am willing to wait.

Concerning my post i was only letting people know that there is a quick fix till Shine can release a good quality product or people can disregard my post and just wait.
