Came across this photo and would like to know more about this car. Never seen this front end before... anyone know what's under the hood, maker of front end, where to get more pics??? THanks!
This guy is a SAN DIAGO Solo2 racer.
This car used to be AREA 51 DEMO CAR. Purple with 3 Rotor, I think when AREA 51 when down, the Current owner bought it, and paint it to ORANGE with current Front and rear end ( not one peace). A year later he change back to 13B 2 rotor,
This year he custom a complete CARBON fiber rear end, and Carbon fiber door.
OH all the Body peace you see in this car, can be bought from owner, he got mold for it
his web site is www.7parts.com ?

Yes, this car belongs to Jeff Keisel from San Diego and is a SCCA Auto-X car.
This FD is the current B-Production SCCA SOLO2 Auto-X National Champion. The car is a full on competiton ride with many custom pieces, including the full carbon rear and custom front end. It runs a wicked turbo'd 13B, used to run a 20B, but weight was an issue.
7-Parts is his website, but it's down for upgrades at the moment. I've called Jeff to ask where one might be able to get ahold of him.

Apparently they removed parts of the frame to accomodate the one piece rear bodywork. This made themsubject to a tube frame car penalty under solo 2 rules, and thus 220 lbs underweight. Like you said, too bad, as they drove well, and had a terrific car. Some have suggested the car was known by their competition to be illegal, and they waited to protest. The suggestion is based on the thought that the modification was obvious, but it seems to me, if it were that plain, then the protested individuals would have known as well (which I doubt). I wonder what the structure they removed weighed, and what weight the car would have gained by retaining it and the requisite body changes? I sure like running an unlimited class...
