There was a nice writeup about the area in a motorcycle magazine called escape I just picked up by coincidence today at walmart. Nice mag, had a number of driving loops described and apparently there is an outfit called madmaps.com that makes travel maps of that area. I'll be ordering one of those...it will also be nice to have the GPS for turn by turn preview of whats ahead.

Tom, trust me, when you're running the Dragon, you won't have time to process what the GPS is showing you. It's simply turn after turn after turn.

11 miles, 318 turns in 15-18 minutes.. Its going to be tough to look at GPS screens.

I'm going get my *** in gear this weekend and try to get my Blk FD together. Its going to be RICED out!! If so, I'll be bringing both of my FD up there.

Its nice for a look-ahead; with 500' scale, you can see the next group of turns at a glance like a HUD when its on the dash, like the course window in some video games. I've used it like that before, just have to figure a better mount for it.

 

I am toying with going this year. I just bought a house in Western NC about 45 minutes from the Dragon.

Can a non-rotary car join me when I take my seven out there?

LOL!! I have a few beers in me and will regret this. Most of your nopistons crowd prefer to sit behind a keyboard and type about RX-'s rather than actually driving them.

I will drop Banzai an E-mail and see if he is interested. I know I can round up a few RX-7's from Florida to join me. A couple of friends might come that have "other" sports cars.

When we get closer I will know if I can make it. I have signed up for a few track days and need to make sure they do not interfere.

I don't know if you saw the thread or not but I've bot BDC flying out here in a couple of weeks to rebuild my engine and do some tuning. I dunno if you'd be interested or not but it's something to think about. You'd just have to get in touch with him before he heads out this way.

hmmm, I already have someone lined up hopefully to build it for me but if he cant have it done in time I may be in need of another option. I know his work is top knotch so its deffinitly a consideration. Is he going to be able to make mods(porting, oil and water) while there or just teardown & assembly?
