Where to get VHT paint in Atlanta???

Hey guys,

I've been looking around NE Atlanta for a while now looking for a place that stocks VHT paint. Not many people have heard of VHT, but its a very good paint brand with a number of VERY useful specialty paints, all of which are higher-temperature rated than pretty much anybody else. I need some of their specialty paints and don't want to pay shipping, plus I want it quickly. Do any of you guys know where I can get this stuff in the Atlanta (pref. NE Atlanta) area? Thanks!!

Hehe, not yet. Unsurprisingly the entire underbody was a pile of rust. I'm redoing the entire suspension (GC coilovers, etc... - its in my sig), cleaning, de-rusting, going to treat with a rust preventative and then coat with hi-temp paint and then top coat with rubber/asphalt spray.

I've almost finished all the electronics, and have almost finished receiving the parts I need from Mazda. I'm trying to do it right, all the way around. So it will take another few weeks probably. Plus I want to powdercoat / sandblast a few things and I need to take those in.

The stuff I am getting off that front clip has helped IMMENSELY tho... its about the only bright spot in this project.. hehe. My original car was even more of a disaster than I thought.

Actually, no. At least, not within 45 min. of my particular suburb of Atlanta. I noticed you used VHT on my car. Their paint is excellent stuff. I wasn't sure if you bought it at Autozone tho. If so, I will ring them up and see if they carry the underbody coating and the VHT epoxy paints.

Haha... I called VHT up and they were like, oh, BTW, you need to find a reseller. Here's some in the Atlanta area you shouldn't have to pay shipping at: yadda yadda. I call them up "Oh no we don't stock that its special order." WTF? I wanted to NOT pay the damn shipping costs!! That's the reason I wanted to WALK into a store anyway. They save on shipping by buying in bulk, and some of these qualify as hazmat, so I'd have to pay an EXTRA fee and wait GROUND shipping times.... UUUUGGGGHHHHHH.

I finally found an out-of-the-way shop that can pick it up from a local distributor same day. I'm going to be giving them a call shortly. The company is "Main Auto Parts" in the boondocks somewhere. Oh well. At least its closer than 1 hr from my house.

As you can tell, Kevin, I'm impatient when it comes to getting parts on hand. Not impatient putting them in - that I want to do right. I hate waiting for shipping times, and paying extra for it.

Peace...

Spraybombs? Not familiar with that term. I'm looking for aerosol cans if that's what you mean, yeah. Spray epoxies with some high-temp additives, spray undercoat with high-temp rubber additives, spray rustproofing that comes in GLOSS instead of flats, etc... plus the clear flameproof coating that Silverrotor mentioned in another post. Nobody else's line of paints covers these special applications.

Spray Cans are not the way to go! Aerosol partially breaks down the bonding agents in paints(any kind). PPG makes some killer high temp paint and they even make their own knockoff - Omni. You could easily match your needs to any of the avaliable colors if it will be showing. We have Carques in Fayetteville and Griffin. It would be worth the drive or just give them a call.

Wow, I thought this thread was dead a long time ago... lol... I got the VHT I wanted and it works awesome. And there's no way I'm using anything but an aerosol or spray booth application for paint anyway, brushes suck. But I took care of this over a year ago now.
