TN TN Folks- Re-introduce yourselves-

Figured it had been a while....

I Live in Spring Hill TN
I work in Nashville
28 Years old
Been in the Rotary scene since 1995.
Owned In upwards of 27 Rx-7s now

Currently own a 1990 Fc3s Sunroofless coupe that I have dubbed "GTu squared" as I am doing a Turbo motor swap. (see my build thread if you are interested)

In my spare time I am making custom 2nd gen parts for my build- Clear lenses, Aero, cooling panels, undertrays, air boxes and pehaps a lip or two... (Pm me for details)

I have a full time family- 2 young kids, and a lovely wife, my wife and I are both in school..

Some noteable Rotary powered vehicles I have owned and sold locally-
1983 GS- Mazdatrix engine, header, full exhaust, ceramic seals..
1985 GSL- Monster Streetport, tokico shocks, tuned carb.
1987 base- Rebuilt/streetported, full racing beat exhaust, full WingsWest bodykit, wheels/suspension.
1987 Vert- Turbo 6 port, racing beat suspension, apexi dual, intake 17" wheels.
1991 Coupe- Custom Turbo 4 port with 13,000rpm bearings, race suspension, custom exhaust, corner balanced, weight reduced with full interior/air and PS.
1987 T2- Pristine in fully stock form

The rest of the Rx-7s I have owned were sold off in stock form, parted or crushed.

My daily drivers are a 1998 Volvo S70 and a Nissan Xterra.

It will be nice to reconnect with other locals, some of you I know, some of you I dont.

My name is Dave
I am a 12 year factory trained M/C tech. I have been in the Rx scene for about 9 years now. I own a 81 FB with headers and ghetto exhaust, my girl has a 90 GTU stock except for a RB exhaust system. Also is my 94 R2 that is a single turbo half bridge ported engine I just built. Just got all the breakin miles done.

I am Jim. I own a 1983 GSL white and black 2 tone. Just got a new motor rebuilt and waiting for a carb. Hope to see some of you out and about.
I am going to Zoom Fest but not sure if the 83 GSL will make it or not.

Either rebuild it before you drop it in or there just after you have it running and all the bugs worked out.

My 90 FC runs, my 79 SA is almost back together, my 93 FD would run if the hard fuel lines were not cut open, my 77 repu runs, my 73 Rx2 could run the flintstone way, and my 75 RE5 Rotary bike runs.

As for the shows, it would be nice to know when peeps are going. We need to get that thread going again.
As for you and I linking up, come on over. I could use a hand either getting the 79 together pulling the motor from the 91, or help taking out a few beers.

Chad[/QUOTE]

I could do that, I've never been over to your place so I'll need some directions. I'll be getting the RE-5 back in a few days, when I do we should go on a little cruise. Also there will be easier access to RE-5 parts now that my friend Jess has acquired all of Sam Costanzo's parts, his new facility is a 22,000 square ft warehouse in Manchester. When its set up and in business he wants to host a rotary meet there. I've talked to a few others and made a post on the other forum about it. This will be great for new members to put a face with names and maybe even spark an interest in some to purchase one of these rare bikes.

Here is the thread Jess sent me:

Friends,

As most of you know, I have had a love of rotary engine (wankel) motorcycles for many years. Over the last ten years, I have restored and repaired them for folks around the world. My friend, Sam Costanzo, the world’s leading expert has decided to retire, and released this statement today.

I will continue to work at my day job and for the last several months have been working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week in preparation for this announcement. I hope to be moved in and open for operation by September 1, 2009 at my 22,000

square foot facility in Tullahoma TN.

I may be difficult to reach for a while, so I ask for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,

Jess Stockwell

From Sam Costanzo To The Rotary Community:

There comes a time in everyone's life when major decisions must be made. I have reached that point in life and have made just such a decision.

I am now reaching close to 70 years of age and have over 45 years
involvement in the Rotary field and also as an attached factory liaison to
the Suzuki RE5 and Sachs W2000 Rotary. At this time, I have decided to
retire and am proud to pass the "Rotary Torch" on to my good, long-time
friend Jess Stockwell, a name well known and well respected within the
Rotary Community.

Jess is a very knowledgeable collector and enthusiast of the RE5, he has
been a contributor to RE5 questions and problems throughout the years and is well versed on these bikes. Jess has acquired all of my NOS RE5 and W2000 Rotary inventory plus all quality refurbished parts, along with my indoor salvage inventory of over 150 RE5 and W2000 motorcycles and 4-1/2 tons of parts, plus the internationally-known " Rotary Recycle USA" trade name. Jess and his staff will continue where I leave off in serving the Rotary Community with parts, service, and technical information from the new Rotary Recycle facility located at 1000 Davidson Street , Tullahoma , Tennessee 37388 .

My staff and I will continue to give Jess all the support necessary
to make this massive transition of parts and bikes as smooth as possible.

Please be patient. Jess will post his new Rotary Recycle contact
information when he's set up and ready to serve the Rotary Community.

In parting, I enjoyed sharing many of my behind-the-scenes Rotary history and information with the Community throughout the years. I have immensely enjoyed the friendships I have made over the course of my journey.

Enthusiasts such as Wayne, Kim, Terry, David, Roland, and many, many others have become near and dear to me.

Look forward to the new opening of Jess Stockwell's Rotary Recycle USA!

Thank you to everyone. "The Rotary torch is now passed!"

Best regards,

Sam Costanzo

Hey everyone,

Moved to this area earlier in the year (January) from Georgia. I work in Hendersonville and live in Gallatin.

Currently, I've got 4 RX7's, a '89 F150 and a 01 MR2. Of the RX7's, I've got an Anniversary Edition that I've got to get running again by the end of the year, 2 parts RX7's and the 4th is a '86 N/A track car.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone in the near future. Probably going to hit up the Music City Mustang Club track day @ the Super Speedway in September.

RRTEC....might need to talk to you, I may be in the market for a splitter if I still can't keep the car cool on track.

My name is David, and I am a rotorholic I am located in Knoxville and currently own 4 fds, 3 for sale as I buy and sell them occasionally. I obviously specialize in 13b rebuilds and general maintenance and performance work on 3rd gens. I would love to get together with the East TN crowd but just never have the time.

Chad,

What would you think if we had a rotary weekend in G-burg or Pigeon Forge one weekend. Rent 3-4 cabins and just cook out and have a good time. I know life is busy for all of us but it doesnt sound like a bad idea, just for the TN crew.

David,
That would be awesome. We would not be able to fit everyone in but I say lets do it.
We can let everyone go sight seeing where they want to during the day or hang out and chill. Then say start the cook out at 4-5pm till the late night hours.

Off season it is not that costly.

I don't really have much of a history just my old next door neighbour had a small collection and took me to school a few times in them about 10 years ago and that's when it took hold. Found a vert locally and figured I'd get it as it would probably be my only chance of finding one. It's been fun so far.. Um.. I guess this is enough for now.

What's up? I'm Nate, 24 years old. I'm a bit late on this thread I guess... I've been into the rotary scene for close to 4 years now and there seems to be no way out of it! I've owned a few FC's, my trusty 79 SA, and the newest addition is the Miata. Not rotary powered (yet...), but a bad *** little car to say the least. I'm always looking for that next car to tow out of someones yard to add to my rotary family . Most of us around here have met through part swaps and what not, but it would be nice to be able to meet up every couple weeks. I'd like to see some restaurant parking lots around Spring Hill filled up with Rx7's, but it seems all the meets are in the buro.

Oh, and I pay the light bill at the local Advance Auto.

Hi Nate, I'm Jim and I live in Nolensville. I have an '83 GSL that I bought new and just about have running again after many years in my garage. Thankfully antiques don't need to pass emmisions. Chad rebuilt the engine and it sounds like we all 3 have about the power with 12A, street ported with Sterling carb. Mine isn't running yet cause I'm waiting on a manifold gasket from Dennis which is in the mail. How do you like your Sterling?
