Tennessee Rotor Heads

Ok, guys/gals I want some ideas on stickers/shirts to be made.

Looking to get more shirts and stickers made but think we need to see if anyone wants to design a new image.
Also anyone out there that wants to take over the design on the web site?
www.mrcmt.com needs some help.

Post ideas, pics, and lets get this rolling so in the spring we can come back out hard.

Well, let's see:

Pros:
Local forum for middle Tenn guys
Higher traffic site = more rotor heads communicating
May facilitate larger get togethers

Cons:
Changes the scope of "Mazda Rotary Car Club of Alabama".. Perhaps it should become SE Mazda Rotary Club?

Anyhow, sounds good to me.

I've mentioned that I'm all up for working on the webpage.

Merging could be both good and bad, but regardless, I don't have a problem with it. I would still like a real web page though, and not just a forum.

It needs to be updated quite frequently. Thats the problem with alot of sites like this, nobody want to do the work of updating constantly.

As far as merging, I really have no opinion.

I'll give my 2 cents..

Cons.. I don't really see any.. Only thing would be that it will take little work to call it MRCCAL/TN

Pros..

1. It will help increase traffic on our website by having bigger membership - in turn more fun on the forum and site.

2. I have ton of connections and could take advantage of discounts and such

3. BIG yearly or Bi yearly gatherings... more people usually means more fun!

4. My local dealership is willing to let me use their dealership for gathering and also have seminars so some of us could learn more about our cars.

5. Eventually we could include GA and have SE club

I agree! I spoke to future GM of Trussville Mazda and he DEFINITELY wants the 8 to be included.. I spoke to him about having series of lectures to learn more about rotary engines at his dealership. He said thats A OK! LOL!

I was thinking next spring have a big Car show/spring fest at Trussville Mazda?? Just before DGRR 08?

I don't car either way.. I noticed that Chad keeps driving down to AL to go to functions.. I would like to go to some events this year (with or without my car) but will find it harder to motivate myself (with gas prices too) to drive to AL to go eat at Hooters... I have done a couple car show meets/ drive in's over the past few years, and I always try to include people in the Autocross events that I attend..

Realistically I will visit either site, our current site is needing some help, but Chad it absorbing all of the financial burden of running the site, plus giving away t-shirts basically..... Whatever we have to do tomake things easier on Him I guess...

I just don't want to see all the meets ending up in AL.. I know you guys have come up here for a few... But I do like just running out to the Mall In the Boro, or to BYB in Franklin to hang out for a few hours without it being a full day event.. (kids, 24 hour on-call) make leaving the state hard...

To sum up, do what you want with the club, But remember where we live....

The only problem I see is that I have alot of stickers and shirts made that say mrcmt.com as the TN club. I don't want to loose that address but again with out and funds coming in I am not sure how much longer I can keep paying the domain and the monthly fee of the site.

I want to get the members to give me ideas since this is our club. I have put alot of time and money in this to get it where it is today. I just want to have everyone know everyone and hang out when they can.

Exactly, perhaps we need to discuss the DUES that kept getting danced around... Chad is paying for/ organizing everything. This club shouldn't COST him money.. As little as $10 a year in dues (that is only $0.83) a month) could really improve our website/club... We have enough members that are enjoying the benifits of a community effort that we should be able to assist Chad in keeping the club active/alive.

I have a few ideas regarding using Adsense to bring revenue to the club too Chad.. If the website were setup a little differently we could add pertinent adds to the site that generate income for the club via page views and click throughs..

Maybe we should start a poll with the locals stating Yea or Nay... (on the merge)

What are the dues for MRCCAL?? Are there any? I can spare $.83 a month to keep us alive.. Can anyone else??

I for one dont like the idea of merging the two together. I dont have a problem with a SE club but i, like RRtec, like to keep it local. We should keep the clubs seperate but get a new a SE club that meets less often than the two regular clubs. As far as ten dollars anually for the website i would be willing to pay it as long as the website is worth it. It should include like classifieds and discounts for services among members and such. As far as the design for stickers and stuff goes i saw a really cool rotor symbol with the eccentric shaft hole used as the side view of a turbo that comes out the side of the rotor. But the one now is alright too.

Just my $.02

This has really always been a problem with folks from TN even back in the day before anyone thats even in this thread joined this forum. There have been some large things planed that never took shape with tons of work involved and the involved parties just gave up, then eventually got rid of there cars. Even when i lived in florida and was part of mrccfl. Big things were planed and some took off, but alot didnt, And the club seemed to spiral down.. (not sure if any of it was repaired,) but it was huge at one time esp compared between the amount of people involved between TN and FL.

My personal advice is dont invest to much of your money into this sorta thing, 10 in dues doesnt sound bad, but buying alot of swag and awaiting people to repay is... well.. . Just maybe keep some small dues or a 1 time entrance fee, and use that for the merch,

Thats just my opinion, I have seen alot come and go, and no real clubs seemed to work out as everyone wanted. Yes Yes i know, my opinions will be disputed and people will try to say that there club is working out great, but time will tell.

FWIW all it takes to loose members is a change of heart or a car wreck. Either can happen in a flash...

chris-reedtn - I have to agree with ya on the things here in TN being a bit slow or lack of. I remember the day way back when Paul was trying to do this same thing.
I have to say it has come along way from the times of just a few guys getting together. When I moved from Tampa the rotary scene was good, then to come here and not see another rotary for some time was bad. That is when I started taking names and numbers of people I met with a rotary. Well that was back in 96-97 and now I have over 50 people on our data base list ( im sure it needs updating). I think alot of our problem was younger people in school who could not give up time or money. But now alot of guys are asking me about dues and we have a bit older group now.

Where does all this go from here........ we will have to see, but I want you all to decide and give ideas as this is the TN club not mine.

Thanks for all the PM's and replies

This is another reason why I approached Chad about combining AL and TN... to have more members and more conversation, etc..

I remember MRCCAL's first get together.. we had people from GA, TN, and all over AL coming to our BBQ... after that some wanted to split off and create their own groups or city based club. I'm not saying thats bad, but it did create clicks and smaller and less active group as whole.

Few things will benefit TN.. MRCCAL already has a forum created and its FREE! I don't charge any membership dues to MRCCAL and there is no real reason for me to.

What I want ultimately is a site in which SE rotary guys can get on, Sell, Buy, get information about events and about cars.. And have quarterly gethering at different states and ONE big gathering region wide.

We recently implimented iTrade so that the seller and buyers will get rating to reduce scamming.. And the forum is well run..

Again, much will stay the same as what you guys are doing... only thing will change is that it would be regional..

Well a member has stepped up and will be doing the web site / hosting it. This will help us and hope it allows the TN rotary scene to grow.

The problem with TN is it's such a screwed up shaped state. To get to the Nashville meets it's about 3 hours. That's a bit much for me...
