Hey Rotor Dudes and Dudettes. I'm new to the forum so a little background.

Purchased my 1993 RX-7 off the showroom floor in New Braunfels, TX in March of 1993. It's got just over 41K miles on it but the seals finally gave out last year. Had the car taken to Luis at DragonMS and had it ported, an ITS GT66 turbo installed, injectors, 32R intercooler, PTS apex seals, ignition amplifier, Profec Type S, etc. Got my car back 2 weeks ago so I am currently breaking it in. I should be completed with that in about 2 more weeks. I've been talking with R1Outcast about getting Steve down to South Florida so here's where we are with that.

I spoke with Steve Kan this afternoon. He is available to come to South Florida the last weekend in February (2/23 & 2/24) for tuning. I know this may not be convenient for everyone but hopefully we can get at least 5 people. He is requesting a confirmation email with the number of cars to tune and a deposit of $200 per person to be sent to him via check or money order.

Either everyone can send their own check to him or we could use someone as a point person to collect the money and have it sent to him. I'm fine with either option. My suggestion for a point person is Luis at DragonMS..... since many of us already know where to find him

Steve's cost is still the same as mentioned by R1Outcast.

$350 for stock twins
$400 for single tubo to 16 psi
$450 for single turbo with additional injection
$600 for 2 maps (1 pump gas and 1 race gas)

I'm trying to locate a Dyno. I left a message at Pettit since their's was used last time and I left a message with Luis for alternatives.

The dyno cost should be somehwere in the $60 to $90 / hour range which would add $100 to $200 to Steve's cost above.

OK. I found a dyno located at GR Motorsports off I-595 and University.

We can use it that weekend but we may need to be flexible for a Saturday or Sunday because he has someone else wanting to use it as well. The cost will be 100 per hour if we have less than 8 cars or 80 per hour with 8 or more cars.

I need to confirm to both Farley at GR Motorsports and Steve Kan as soon as possible so everyone call me at 786-313-8448. Leave a message if I don't answer.

We still need to send Steve the deposit of 200 per car, so once we get confirmation from at least 5 people we need to get the money to him to buy his ticket. He wants to know as soon as possible due to ticket prices are cheaper several weeks out.

See Steve's response regarding how we would get the deposit payment to him. It doesn't look like we'll make it by the 23rd and 24th of this month since he wants a full month in advance to allow all checks to clear.

I don't want everyone mailing their check to me. it makes it very
confusing since I have other groups doing the same. it is much easier to
send one envelope for that particular group so that I don't get lost on
the head count on the # of deposits I received for the group.

I was asked if he can tune microtech so I emailed Steve. He sent me the above link to his tuning information page including prices and types of computers he works with.

As of now I only have 3 people that I have spoken with wanting to get tuned. I need at least 2 more so call me at 786-313-8448.

I am still in, just been away from the computer for a while, anyway I still have my fingers crossed for Pettit, but we'll see I guess.

ok now my throwout bearing went bad, should have that patched up in a few days or so, and was wondering if this was going to get off the ground anytime soon or if the three people are even still interested? Otherwise I think if I can get into the latest Gaby Skern tune, it might fit my timeline better(plus people wont stop raving to me how great he is), but if I dont manage to get around to fix my TO bearing then I will wait for Steve to come(if that happens this year at all).
So are you guys still up for this or what?

I'm still in for sure, just waiting for Johnny to fill me in on progress since he's been talking to Steve lately. Last I Spoke to Johnny there were 3 for sure people if i remember right. Hopefully more people will commit to it now that we're pretty much ready to go.

yeah I will drive to orlando to get tuned if I have to, it is actually closer for me that way, but I would still always prefer to go to Pettit(I am a tried and true Pettit person, but orlando is closer and it seems like the Gaby Skern(honestly have never heard of him) tune is a sure deal without all this hassle, so if I can make it to that one I would be out of this one, otherwise I'd have no choice but to wait for this to pull together.
BTW talked to Cams son or someone and the dyno is open for Steve anytime they said. last time Steve was here to tune at Pettit Steve pretty much ran the tune because Cam was sick, so I think even if Cam had plans or whatever, SOMEONE would be there to let Steve run the show again.
I am going to replace my flywheel and clutch and T/O bearing this week, so if everything goes smoothly(and it never does but I dont see what could go wrong this time) I wont be in on this, but if I dont have it done by April 4th, then I will send in my check for this tune.

Cause most of the people who said they were in are no shows now that we're ready to get it going...went from 9 people to 3-4 people.

I guess it's partly my fault, school and family happened in the middle of getting this thing going so I had slacked off for a while. But I'm still in for sure, just need a few more to commit...

I guess we are not going anywhere here. Today I found a guy from Puerto Rico, He can tune RX7 with AFC. I think I'm going to go with him first. and re-tune with a pro again later when they decide to come down in Miami.

Damn.. Can some one just go to train and master the AFC? I called the Apexi to find a factory trained tuner, and the closest one to Miami is in Georgia!!!!
