Sorry I haven't touched base with y'all yet. I haven't been on the forums very much over the past few days. My fiance and I are buying a house, and going through all the hoops this week to close by May 29th... along with me taking finals for the end of this semester.

Have any of you locals found a good location yet? Any suggestions? I can make the phone calls if you guys have specific places in mind. I don't expect that our event will be more than 30 cars... so even a parking lot at the mall is fine.

As for the fact that there are other events going on in other cities... well... I don't recall Atlanta being near the beach.

What do you guys think about just gathering a small group together and chilling at a public parking lot by the beach? Anyone familiar with Savannah's beaches? This event doesn't have to be extreme. (although we still gotta have t-shirts! lol)

i am not opposed to having all rotary powered cars in on it... i think that it would be cool to have other rx's that preceeded the 7join in on the festivities... that and all rotorheads should be together... it's what we do!!!

perky- if it turns out to only be 14 people, then that would be a great idea... we could all go to the crab shack and have seafood until you can't breath, and then cruise the main strip from tybee all the way back to river street downtown savannah...if more is desired then there is always the abercorn 500 that runs from downtown all the way out to the extreme other end of savannah and that is where hooters is(i-95 and hwy204)...

Some one form there needs to post Hotel info for those of us out of town who plan to stay the night.

I have a shirt company that makes shirts for our fire department so if some one comes up with the design I can run it pass Karen to get pricing if needed.

I think we need to focus on a parking lot that will allow us to gather, even if it is just a restaurant... then just cruise the beach and find a gathering spot for pictures and fellowship. We will have much better luck having a late lunch kind of thing somewhere than trying to find a place for dinner on a saturday night.

The organizers should exchange phone numbers with any potential event-comers so if someone gets lost or delayed, they will be able to find the group. Once we have a location, the nearby hotels can easily be searched for online. Do you guys want to all stay in one hotel?

I can find something affordable if we all want to arrange a group rate. Let me know. I also have AAA if we need to find out the possibility of getting a AAA rate... or a military rate (which is sometimes cheaper). I was planning on shooting down there Saturday morning and possibly staying overnight. I think we should keep this event as inexpensive as possible, and focus on fellowship.

Please post up any suggestions for t-shirt designs, and we will get those rolling. I know Wendy was wanting to present some of her ideas as well.

Man I'm excited about this event. It will be a nice summer event to look forward to!

What do you guys think about gathering at a go-kart place and doing some of that together? That way the cars can legally be parked together and we are giving them our business. For those who do not want to drive go-karts, we can just hang out. It's fun to watch people wipe out and hit each other, too.

If we had the event in Raleigh, we could just park on our new property we're buying and play paintball in the woods... fun times We have plenty of space for parking... and there is about 20-30 acres of vacant wooded land next to us...

I'll probably have something like this in the fall... once we get completely moved in and settled. LOL

I almost hate to say it, but what if we fold and go to D & B's and have a rotary section?? I can get all the graphics, shirts and what not done @ my job. Just throwing it out there.

i love the a-town!!! don't take this wrong, but that would make for a lot more drive time for the florida peeps... i thought the idea behind the poll, that was taken, was to vote for the location... savannah won this by a large margine, and it is the most central location for the florida guys and the carolina guys (and gals)... please lets get this ball rolling and keep moving in one direction...

there is a go-kart track in the savannah metropolitan(sp) area... it is in pooler i believe... rotarywall lives in pooler so i will ask him to get some info. for us.... he has not posted on this thread yet but he will be attending the event... he works third shift so his sleep schedule is kind of different from the rest of the world... i will see him in the morning...
