SCCA Drift events... Georgia
Apparently there will be some SCCA-run drifting events in Georgia later this year:

I got a pair of 15X6 alloys from the junkyard... for 25 bucks
The offset is a little bit higher, but it shouldn't cause a problem.
Now I need to get some half-decent used tires. If I get some ones that have a reasonable amount of tread left on them, hopefully they'll still be usable by the end of the event, since I don't have much power anyway.
I also got an SCCA membership so I can save on this week's autocross (Birmingham) and the drift event (which I've decided to go to as soon as it seems they aren't going to cancel it from not having enough drivers).

I may or may not come... the hard part is the fact that I'd have to leave here at like 2-3 in the morning to make it to tech, unless I went the night before and slept in my car (not fun).
Also, I'm wondering whether the junk tires on my spare wheels (which are a TV stand at the moment) with about 1/32" of thread on them (you can see it and feel it, but there's not much left) would even be worth using... I'd prefer to avoid using my good tires for more than a few runs.
I don't know whether I'd be able to find any decent used tires locally (for less than 50 bucks or so) since 205/60/15 is kind of a rare size nowadays.
Also, there ARE going to be loaner helmets, right? (seeing as how it's an SCCA event).
(of course, I also learned that my car is spin-happy (mainly due to me running out of talent and steering angle) at around 60 MPH even with my relatively high-grip 205-width tires, due to old shocks, springs, and bushings, so I wonder just how much grip some crappy 195-width Kuhmos will have...)

Is anybody planning on going to the next event in July? I'll probably be there, but I dunno if I'll be driving...
(Anyone know the date yet? I've seen different dates on different sites that sponsor the event, so I'm confused...)
