SC Club '08 Meets
great year last year...and an enjoyable final '07 meet for the SC club...weather sucked, but I know we all had a good time just hanging out at John's house.
So, anyway, here we are in '08. Where is the first '08 SCrx7Club meet going to be? I suggest the 2nd of Feb, but I don't know where. Here is my suggestions based off DGRR and the Blue Ridge Rotary Rally being worked into our meet cycle... Dec '07 - ~Columbia Jan - none (should have been upstate) Feb - Charleston March - Columbia April - DGRR (?) May - Charleston June - Columbia July - Upstate August - Charleston Sept - Columbia Oct - Upstate (B3R?) Nov - Charleston Dec - Columbia what does everyone think? |
Hello,
When the Steve tuning session hits, I would try to make that meet there? On a side note, when my kid gets older I will be able to attend these meets more frequently, regardless of the location. |
I think Masin is aiming for early April before DGRR for the tuning session.
|
we should have the next meet upstate, im having mountain road withdrawal. i think the last time i was up there was B3R
and we should mountain camp outs more often too :icon_tup: but maybe not until the weather warms up a little |

well, if anyone wants to come hang out and drive any weekends, let me know...perhaps you can slip off for a weekend...
chip, i know this can be a great place to bring the wife for a weekend, get a room, visit the biltmore house or see the asheville symphony or go hiking...i'm not sure what you crazy kids like :) the only down side is that i can't offer you a place to stay, the house is in no condition for me to host guests...sorry, hopefully within a few months it will be...so you would have to get a hotel room or something... |
i think we should just edit out the columbia meets all together. in the end there is absolutely nothing to do there! and whats with forgetting about the upstate when there is another big meet?
i really think we should just do it the way we always do, decide each month. so since jan isnt gonna happen lets make feb an upstate meet. besides, its my birthday so i shouldnt have to go far. lol |
Your just mad you have to work on the days that there will be a meet. well... shit, I need one of those jobs :(
|
I'm up for just about anything, since i dont have a job right now. bad shit for a 7 owner haha

i've tried to get the club to support a WNC meet, not to make it easier on me, but so we could drive some different roads than the usual ceasar's head and 178... |
i think we should keep at least a few of the columbia meets too, b/c it is a good central location for everybody, so a bigger potential for good turnouts. I htink we should try to add more events too, like autocrosses, myrtle beach drift, and maybe a Roeblin Road meet in Savannah.
we should also try to coordinate big meets in savannah and charlotte to try get some of the GA, NC folks in on it |
i agree with the autocross meets.
i know soon here in summerville at my high school there will be a scca event. |
tray its called sarcasm, but in that case, why dont you butt the fuck out since you dont even live in SC? hence the reason it is called an SC rx7 club meet, not a SE meet!

Masin, it's called he's trying to help organized the SC RX7 Club, which is more of a social group then a club at this point.
Club (noun) - a group of persons organized for social purposes. An organization that offers its subscribers certain benefits, as discounts, bonuses, or interest, in return for regular purchases or payments. Group (noun) - a collection or assemblage of person or things. A number of persons or things ranged or considered togetehr as beign related in some way. On an added note, where does it say that NC-ians or anyone out side of SC for that matter are not welcomed? Having said that, until there's a Club Charter stating that only SC-ians (or members for that matter) are able to attend, even make suggestions, or try to organized events... I say let him speak. He's only trying to help add some organization to the group. |

Hey ppl,
As usual the sc rx7 club/group and its drama, lol On another note, I think next B3R could be titled "B3R2", an so on. In other news Im back living in columbia, and my computer, it seems, dose not like this forum, it has a very hard time loading the pages, so I wont be on here much, Im using someone else's computer to post this. Hopefully Ill have my other rx7 running before DDRR'08, so I might take that car. I might come to the savanna dyno, probably will come to the tuning session (spectator), and if we have an upstate meet. Later. |

Hey girls, stop your bickering and watch me jack this thread.
Last week I was going about 60 on the highway when all 4 of the lugs on my driver's side rear wheel decided to work themselves out. Luckily the drum assembly just dropped down inside the rim and the wheel stayed under me until I could pull off the road. Good thing it wasn't one of the fronts. I still can't believe it, and in case you can't either, here are some pics: This is the drum, note that the outer rim of the hub was completely broken off in chunks, and the metal shavings on the casing are from it digging into the rim. https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1199557746 Here's the rim. Though it got shaved up pretty bad, I think it is probably still structurally sound. However I have switched back to the stockers all around for the time being, mainly because they are hub-centric whereas the Rewinds aren't. https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...1&d=1199557746 I believe several factors contributed to this happening. The wheel cylinder is leaking brake fluid, and perhaps that provided some lubrication to help the lugs work themselves out. Also as stated the Rewinds are not hub-centric, they are lug-centric but hub rings can and will fix that before they go back on my car. I found 3 of the lugs within about 100 yards of each other on the road. God knows when the first one came out but with one gone, the others didn't stand a chance. Despite the name, I was unable to Rewind the day and check that my lugs were tight before I got on the road. Also if I can get some help (hint, hint) I'd like to ditch the drums and open differential, switching to discs and the LSD before DGRR. |
good to hear nothing major happend!
|
DJ - Dumb ass....:) but other wise no damage to the car? if thats the case, great to hear...i saw this video once where all 4 wheels of an FD came off at autoX...
but u need to get ur car going again for the charleston meet in feb |
Yeah guys thanks, no damage to the car but I was fit to be tied. I failed to mention that my jack was NOT in the car and I was out in the country with no cell signal. :wallbash: A guy happened to be bailing straw across the highway and had one in his truck. Of course I had to pick up the corner of my car to get his jack under it...and oh yeah it was raining and I was dressed for work. What a lovely fkn day that was!:icon_tup: At least it didn't happen the night before, when I was doing 120!:scared:
The car is fine, I drove it home that day. I just have poor back braking because of the leaking wheel cylinder. Rather than buying the part to fix that I'd rather go ahead and put in the LSD rear and discs that have been sitting around waiting to be put in for like a year... |
doesn't gianny owe you some wrench time? call him, make him come help you!
|
that looks horrible DJ, glad you made it out ok. f'ing drums
|
gee wow yeah this thread sucks. Why are kids picking fights with leprecauns anyways? Play nice... What are we to do in FEB Chucktown? I guess I need to get my shit together. BBQ ??
|
Hey Chip, if you don't mind to take charge of planning this event that would be great...
I think one thing we should try to put into all meets is a drive of some sort, even if its just cruising around the city...maybe another owner will see our caravan of RX7s and stop and talk to us....or any scenic roads down ur way we could go enjoy? may not be twisty, but still can be pretty... |
dude summerville has no scenic roads.

Ok, peeps of Chucktown, and all of those who like 7's, I say that all are welcome to the SC Rx7 Club. Just because Nieto left (hopefully some people still remember him) doesnt mean we all have to fight. Yes I know that Chucktown can be boring, and we dont have any hills (damn!) but of all of the meets I ever went to (and it has been a while) all we ever did was talk about how much we liked the cars and how much of a bitch they were to work on. So isnt this what it is all about -
a brotherhood? broth·er·hood - meaning all those engaged in a particular trade or profession or sharing a common interest or quality Lets try to start the year out right, and have a good first meet of '08. Anyone is free to call me (843-296-5625) if they have any ideas, but one thing we need to keep as a tradition, or start (not sure if it was continued) is driving over the bridge into Chucktown and crusing down King Street. And to all who do not know me my name is Landon, and my FD was recently raised from the dead. |
Hey man, where in chucktown are you at? I'm up here in Hanahan by the east of 78. it would be cool to see another FD around sometime haha
|
In West Ashley by citadel mall. Give me a call later today, i will be in summerville for a while at a friends that has a 91 ( i think).

Allen the road you are refering to is along the river on the weapons station we can go there and cruise around the scenic parts also. Derek and I will be retuning my beast this weekend and he will have his in town also.
What weekend in February do we want to do this and I'll run it past the wifey. It will be OK just want to give a heads up. We can all meet here and then go cruisin and then come back for a BBQ and Beers...? I'm down for anything lets get some ideas going from the Chucktown Locs!!! Constructive stuff only this thread is getting bogged down already. Chip And yes Trey you will be at this or I will destroy all leprecauns in the Chucktown area!!!!!!!! |

Honestly... I had one of the best times @ Chip's when we all cooked out and had some beers. I like alcohol and hanging w/ friends. That'd be the shit in my book. Anyone else? |
