Yeah 40PSI. If Adam is there as an instructor (red RX-8) talk to him to see what he might suggest.... maybe even ride with him hah! Actually if he is instructing hook up with him, tall fellow with a beard. Runs national events and is a great instructor. Also hooked up with him at VIR when he was running but anyways... Steve has me run that on his tires also during HPDEs at VIR.

The new tires get installed the 16th so, I guess I'll have a week to play with tire pressure.
On the track the tires have time to get hotter and the pressures rise. On an autocross course, the tires will not firm up in time so you run higher pressures to compensate.

Keep your eyes up , meaning look ahead. Don't focus on the cones just a few yards in front of the car. The instructors will coach you. Don't worry about making mistakes. I'll be making them. Instructors will be making them...though at much faster speeds. NOBODY will escape without killing some cones. Its all fun. This not like some sort of driving test, just a good safe time.

You mean the goal is not to knock out ALL the cones? Damn there goes my whole strategy

Adam gave me some real good advice on cones which really helped especially through the slalom type sections. Think about knocking them over with the rear of your car, not the front. That's not exactly how he said it but you'll get the idea from your instructor. I learned quite alot about me and my car doing it last year. Gates, slaloms, Chicago boxes.... hah!!! Oh yeah, here's something that he had me do that was great. You'll walk the course with an instuctor, when you get back run the course through your mind 50 times!!!! I know on one of my runs I blew past a box coming out of one of the gates. So did alot of others but the idea is you can drive the course in your mind alot more than you will on the track. I can still see the course in my mind from last years event just as clear as the day we did it. Anyway, it was a totally different driving experience than anything I had done before. Had me really thinking about getting another car for doing this stuff. Oh yeah, don't hesitate to be open and ask questions with your instructor. I think my biggest surprise of the day was this, Adam took me through the course in his RX-8. First run was fast, next he said we'll do it "at speed".... WOAH!!!! I was like there's no way I'll ever be doing this (of course the passenger seat is 20mph faster than the driver's but...) course this fast or braking like this. My third solo I beat his time on that run. You'll be surprised what you will learn and can do by the end of the day.

Does anyone have a stock FD muffler in good shape locally that they would sell me? I need one ASAP.

I'm actually going to be in Raleigh in the morning on Saturday, and then have a few hours to kill before the RRDI meet starts up. Sounds like a good time for a cruise.

*warning* I will be in the piston-thingie. My RX7 went from 24 MPG to 15 MPG. Damn fouled spark plugs.

so this is a funny story about remembering to do your car maintenance. so in the summer i always run distilled/waterwetter/15% coolant. works great for keeping temps down. the 15% antifreeze is enough to keep the water liquid. I get in my car this morning, crank her up, everything is normal. let her warm for about 5-10minutes, no worries. then about 5 miles from the house, the needle starts climbing(no need for real panic, this isn't a rotary after all) so i kick the fan on thinking, i will pull over at the next gas station to check the coolant. temp stabilizes for a second, then starts gradually creeping.

pull over at the gas station, pop the hood, put my hand on the radiator. ice cold!!!! at this point i am getting the idea. take the cap off, its like a slushy in my radiator. I guess the 15% coolant wasn't enough to keep the cooling mix liquid at 17*F.

anyhow, long story short i spent the last couple of hours defrosting the radiator. Guess that'll teach me to do my winter coolant change. LOL.

50/50 coolant/water mix in winter FTW. lol

^Damn pistonheads.

On the autoX note...I'm getting excited. REAL excited. Excited like break-out-the-lube excited. j/k, not THAT excited, but close. I think I'm good to go on the inspection part aside of taking some foam out of my seat so I can fit with a helmet. I have a small a/c to bring along to air up the tires (well, it's one you plug into the lighter, but you're all free to use it if you want), I can bring a cooler, I will remove all my tools probably, along with the floor mats and anything else in the car that can move. I'm getting happy.

Thanks Josh and Carl for looking for the master cylinder, and sorry Carl, I don't have a stock muffler laying around. If I had my aftermarket one already I'd let you borrow the stock one though, haha.

All right Smokie, remember to have your car warmed up away from everyone else before you do a run. Dead birds and people FTL.

Dammit Phil, how else did you think I was going to come away with the win?! Why do you constantly have to undermine my plans?

On a side note, I think I'm gonna get some new injectors soon, mine might be a little leaky. Oh, and I put 145K miles on the car today, WOOHOO! Oh wait, I mean

Feel good knowing you have more miles than I do...pfft...

New injectors? I don't think that's necessary. You can get them professionally cleaned. For a car as old as mine I would, but for you, no. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a professional cleaning would be ~$80 if that.

Venom, not as bad as the coolant on my MX-6 constantly draining because I didn't close the cap tight enough~ :3; Went through several bottles before it clicked.

Don't think I haven't thought about a new odometer, haha. But I'D always know, well, she would too.

Josh, it's not the same flaming you anymore, it's just too easy, with you having an inferior engine and all. LOL. j/k

Yeah maybe I'll get them cleaned instead. That would beat paying ~$600.

I love that website too, I send it to guys in my shop all the time. Kaleco auto FTW.

^NP Dave, I'm here for ya buddy, any time you need a burn.

On a different note...anyone who gets MazdaSport magazine should be very happy, Bobby repped the RRDI (got the word out as to when the meets are), the RRDI website and Greg's website, Jill and his RX-8 in what was almost a full page spread...that's on page 20. ALSO, there are two pics from when we parked our cars down where all the cool people park (thanks again Bobby) and you can see Nic's car and mine pretty well since we were on the ends, and you can also see Bobby's, Greg's, Bert's and Andy's, the noses anyway. I thought that was pretty cool.

There is also an article on SevenStock 9 (mazdagirl81 and I are talking about possibly getting together a roadtrip to SevenStock 10 this October if any of you want to go, it will probably be people from her group in Miami and whoever wants to go from our area), and several other interesting articles. I'm glad I got this magazine.
