FL Reputable Shop In Central FL

Hello all. I'm just beginning my journey into rotary cars with an '83 GSL. It needs a clutch, but other than that, everything appears to be working as it should! I was wondering 2 things...... 1-Do I need to bring the car to someone with rotary knowledge to get the clutch replaced, or can any competent mechanic/garage handle it? And 2- Any Florida peeps recommend a good shop that does work on rotary motors/cars specifically? I'm located in Palm Coast, just North of Daytona Beach, and South of St. Augustine. I'm guessing I'll have to head towards Jax or Orlando, but finding someone a bit closer would be awesome! Thanks in advance for the help! Here's some pics of my new toy!

Any good mechanic should be able to replace the clutch. Probably around $500. What are your symptoms. Is the clutch slipping when you accelerate or does the pedal go to the floor without engaging the clutch? The latter is a sign of clutch hydraulic system failure. Much easier and cheaper to fix. Several members in Palm Bay. Maybe one of them will post a recommendation.

Kilo Racing is in St. Cloud.

A clutch isn't a real bad job in these cars so any good mechanic should do fine. Nothing special about the trans or clutch.

I am pretty local down in Ormond Beach but am up to my eyeballs in work and my own projects right now otherwise I'd take a look.

Like 74RX4 if it slips is the clutch if its the pedal it probably as simple as the slave going bad.

It's definitely the clutch itself. Good pedal pressure, and the car was running and driving up to the day I picked it up. When I went to drive it home, the clutch was slipping badly and got progressively worse as I went along. Not wanting to do more damage, I parked it and towed it to my house. I have a local mechanic that I trust, just wanted to be sure there wasn't anything "rotary specific" that needed to be done. Thanks for the input guys!

1st Gens aren't my realm of serious experience (although first 7 was a GSL-SE) but IIRC they have a habit of developing leaks on the (rear seal? Can't quite remember the part) that causes your clutch to slip, etc.

Annoying but you can drive it that way for a long time. As others have mentioned, Kilo is the place for anything rotary related, Jax doesn't really have anyone and any competent mechanic could replace your clutch. Make sure it is not that clutch master/slave which is like $50 in parts and you can repair them yourself.

If they aren't rotary specialists don't let them touch anything else. =)
