Registering CA car in FL

Hello,

I want to avoid smogging my car here in CA(currently CA car). So with my sister in FL, I want to register it there.
How do I register the car in Orlando, without having the car shipped there?

you need to have a address in florida, not a p.o. box. it would help if you had it on your insurance also, but you could always say you just moved here. i don't think you'd have to switch your license before you get this done.
plates need to be sent to the florida address to avoid any suspicion. then you just send the plates and registrtation out to california and put them on. after this you could always tell them you live in florida part of the year when you renew it by mail. but, they may want some kind of proof if you do that. or, you just get your sister to do it by mail for you and send everything out to you when she gets it every year.
i am not sure how much of this your sister can do. and, they used to have a out of state transfer fee of $150 if i remember right. but, the fee had been changed because people were complaining about it being high to register their out of state vehicles here. but that has been quite a few years ago so i am not sure what it is anymore. i don't think they'll look at it too hard though. there are a few large car collections in the state and people register vehicles here alot.
they check for insurance more than anything.

remember, we don't do vehicle inspections here, but you still have to have emissions on your vehicle if it came with it. if they check your car out in california and you don't have emissions on it they will still give you a ticket, same as here.
i'd recomend the racing beat full race exhaust(i have this on my rx-7 and it is not too loud or conspicuous) because the pre-silencer, or, buying that pre-silencer and having it installed on your exhaust with a couple of quiet high flow mufflers.
and, rotaries are known to smoke a little when all the emissions are off. no big deal here, but, it may draw some attention there.

first of all they might not do it for you unless you are in the military. second they wil need to have someone(cops or DMV employees) look at your odometer unless it has more than 100k in it and last but not the lleast before you go do that keep in mind that FL state requires your car to be inspected HERE in FL if you want to put a full coverage for the first time or everytime you change your insurance carrier and wnat full coverage for your car. If you currently have a full coverage with your current insurance company call them and verify what they will need from you if you move to FL, ask them about there SOPs. Be careful on how you word this things because they might get suspicious and think your doing a fraud:-)

At our DMV in Gainesville if the car is going to registered from out of state they like to verify the vin number (means a walk to the parking lot to look at it) there fore i don't think it will be possible unless your sister is willing to try it for you.
