Raleigh Rotary Drive-Ins in June

Just need to mention that the Raleigh Rotary Drive-In happens on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. They begin around 6:30 PM and last as long as we are having fun. Location is the Char Grill on Strickland Road in north Raleigh, the address is 9601 Strickland Road. This weekend we'll find out who is interested in driving up to VIR next Saturday and want to caravan to Rockingham the following weekend for NOPI?

............I won't be here for this meeting, but I do want to caravan to Nopi. I can't make it to VIR, though, cuz I have to work on SOME weekends. The 2nd and 4th weekends are RX-7 weekends. Teehee.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it tonight... My newly aquired Sport/TII is having a few electrical issues that need attention... I'm sure I'll be there for the Nopi caravan though... I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

We'll be getting the arrangements made and commitments for those wanting to go to NOPI Rockingham for the next Drive-In and findout who is going up to VIR on the 18th to caravan together. Also I finally heard back from the people that rent "the mansion" near Robbinsville. We are looking at getting a group big enough to rent the entire house for the Deals Gap Rally next spring.

They said that it is available for any April weekend except the last one and the rate is $975 per night, minimum 2 night stay. I haven't heard the dates for next year's Deals Gap event is so can't make a commitment to a weekend but do want some of our people there Friday morning to get people arriving on Friday information about events and answer questions and may take calls from groups as they depart and are on the road to Fontana Village. We need to talk more about what our Rotary group can do to contribute to the organization and running of the event.

The Royal Purple oil and transmission oil is on its way, I'll be picking it up on Monday and will know the prices. I know that they will have the first case of quarts of 20W50 and said they usually stock 75W90 gear oil. Need to know who wants to try 6 qts for an oil change and who wants to run the gear oil in their transmissions. How much does it take to change out the trans oil? Let me know my posts or pms or at the Drive-In today your interest.

Bert: You need about 3 quarts to fill up the transmission. The tranny itself takes a little more than two, and then you can take the shifter out and pour a little more into the shifter hole.

Picture of Saturday's Drive-In

Here are the pics of last Saturday's Drive-In:

We had a nice turnout of FCs and a "new" FB and an FD:
The Drive-In was started off by this 1985 FB, Fabulous Body:

She had a nice rear end as well:

She was an Al Smith Mazda original:

A new FC showed up as well, and on time, FC stands for Forest Camo:

Then the Dynamic Duo showed up to bring it all into perspective:

Bobby made it in his always beautiful RX8, call this Sunset Silver:

And I couldn't resist a shot of this fine looking teenager, she just turned 16 in February:

That's just some of the cars out last weekend to celebrate Rotary Day, that's anyday you're able to drive that mechanical marvel and work of art given to us by divine inspiration, the genious of Dr. Wankel, and the engineering of Mazda Motors.

Sorry guys, I took a lot of pics that I didn't have time to post on photobucket and link over to the thread.

The next RRDI will be Saturday, June 25. We'll have a door prize to draw for if we can get a couple of verts there, and all generations of RX7 represented and one or more 8's can show up. We'll also be making some special plans for the July DIs. For those not going on the NOPI Rockingham trip there will still be a DI at Char Grill so you'll still have a place to come and hangout with other rotorheads if the need arises.

Tonight's Drive-In

we've not done a giveaway in a while so tonight we'll be drawing drivers licenses for a bottle of Purple Ice. Let's have at least 1 RX8, some verts and at least one rep from every generation of 7 and we'll do the giveaway. Need that purple ice this summer to keep your engine nice & cool.

6:30 PM at the Strickland Road Char Grill. Later is OK if you can't make it at 6:30 or you drive an FD!
