Raleigh Rotary Drive-Ins for April
There will be the usual Drive-Ins on April 9th and 23rd. But we're also scheduling a special drive-in tonight, April 2 for anyone interested and especially for those going to the Deals Gap Rally on April 9th.
April 8th a group from Raleigh will be leaving at 0930 AM for the 350 mile trip to Deals Gap for the rotary rally on Saturday, April 9th. There will be a scheduled Drive-In on that Saturday for those that couldn't make the trip. Then we'll all be together again on the 23rd for the second Drive-In date and talk about the upcoming Downeast Drive-In scheduled for May 7-8.
Spring is here and all rotary owners need to get their cars out on the roads and shake the cob webs and critters out of them. Come join us for some great times, great fellowship, and great adventures this year at the Raleigh Rotary Drive-Ins.

Thanks Greg for handling the drive-in. Is that vert ready to roll for Deals Gap? We can always use another beautiful FC amongst us. Hate I missed meeting another FC owner but if y'all behaved he and his son will be back. I guess Ray didn't show up with his newly painted and road worthy FC?
Sorry to hear the bad news Josh, I was really hoping that you'd have your car ready for the trip. Let me see if I understand this, you won't drive the car because you're not sure it will make the trip? Josh, its a 3rd gen, an FD model RX7, it is supposed to break down, that is why we had to rent the tow truck for the whole weekend! it is supposed to look good, sound awesome, and put up some serious HP numbers; you want a dependable rotary, buy an FC. According to capn you can get two beautiful FCs for less than your turbo cost. FD = Fabulous Design FC = Forever Cruising. Let's get with the program.
Seriously, after all the time, effort, and money you've put into your car you don't want to do something stupid like take it on a long trip before you're sure its truly road worthy. I'm sure we can find a empty seat for you.

Bert, can we start a persons lists with names and pictures, sorta like a reference for us all. we can have a picture of the owner next to thier car so everyone can recognize everyone better. and i dunno make the thread SE owners reference or something so we can remember everyone. cause i really hate seeing everyone talking up a storm and totally forgetting thier names

Thanks for the pics, pretty sorry turnout huh? Glad to see you, Bobby and Taylor came out though. Y'all missed the greatest rotary event in the history of rotary events. My wife, Diane, even drove the Tail of the Dragon, she spit in its eye and kicked it in the butt. Everyone had a great time and those that didn't go need to plan on the trip next year! It is something not to be missed. Here are just a few photos from Saturday. I got over 100 to post or print and show for the next drive-in. This is at the car wash Saturday morning. Everyone's car was pretty dirty from the drive up in the rain on Friday, so we had an improvised car wash thanks to the Texaco station manager: Here is the Levrette wing of the RRDI-

Just wanted to remind everyone that this Saturday we'll be driving in to Deals Gap, sorry, I meant the Char Grill for the 4th Saturday Rotary Drive-In. I've seen several FCs around the triangle that I've not seen before.
If you are in the Raleigh area and enjoy driving and working on your rotary powered wonder then you need to be at the Strickland Road Char Grill this Saturday. The drive-ins start at 6:30 PM with an FD parade usually between 7:00 and 7:30.

Uniform Of The Day
The uniform of the day will be your US 129 Mazda T-Shirts or some other Tail of the Dragon shirt, whatever you have. Next year I'll bring along a DVD for the Friday night movie, how does Reign of Fire sound?

We had a great turnout last night and 4 new rotary owners were present. We even had the youngest rotary driver to show up at a Drive-In:
Josh showed up promplty at 6:30 PM, another first for the RRDI. I promised if this happened, he got his FD there at 6:30 I'd never say another word about the FD parades or the habitual tardiness of their owners.
Infact we had a second FC there as well, in fact he beat me to the Char Grill, a beautiful MB FD that had belonged to his dad:
Johny & Karen brought the redone Tiffany down to let us all see how beautiful she is:
Here is a shot of her nice, clean, tight little rearend:
Here is what a clean, newly repainted engine bay looks like with the new turbo back at home:

We all marvelled not only at Josh's promptness but at the workmanship of his car and that it was finally back on the road again:
Here is a rearend shot of Josh's car as well. It was so good to have it back and there were guite a few RRDI members who had never seen it at a meet, it really is real!
and he even took people for rides in it, here Diane, the TOTD warrior comes back after riding in style:
Speaking of new rotary owners here are pics of their rides. A new black vert joins the group:
and Tate brought his golden girl to the Drive-In, she'll be celebrating her 19th B'day soon:

We continue with the new rotary theme, here is a beautiful black 8 Kevin drove in:
While technically not new Ray was still justifiably proud of his FC recently out of JB's paint booth and body shop:
Here is the early line up showing some of the cars that made it out on a windy but beautiful day, anytime you have over a dozen rotaries gathered together it is a beautiful day:
Sir Gregory of Turboland came in his vert, a beautiful lady, I think he thought it was gonna be raining:
And a parting shot from last night, Johny Zoom couldn't take his eyes of that beautful car. He is as proud of tiffany as we all are of our cars, Great job on the restoration Johny - I call this one "Can't Take My Eyes off of YOU!
