The Radar Trap Spotting Thread

Hey,

I just thought this would be a good idea. How about we post in here everytime we see a new radar trap? Leave the time, the name of the road, highway or interstate, vehicles/cruisers used, and approximately where the trap was located. Just figured it could help everyone and give a warning. This way the next time one of us travels down a road and spots the trap, maybe we can come on here and warn everyone else hopefully before it is too late!

My spottings (All in SC)

Yesterday:

I-85 during morning rush hour. Several between exits 66 and 60 in Northbound AND Southbound lanes

I-85 during afternoon rush hour. 1 between exits 51 and 54 in the Northboud lane and 1 more around exit 60.

Today:

I-85 during morning rush hour. 1 on both Northbound AND Southbound lanes. Again between exits 66 and 60.

Vehicles used:

Apparently this area has gotten several new cruisers and are anxious to show off their newfound rides. Almost none of them were the traditional "Crown Vics", but Dodge Magnums, Dodge Chargers, and the new Ford Mustang GT's. Some of them were marked, some were not.

WATCH OUT! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Going toward Charleston a few miles before rout 17, exit 199, on I-26. Got pulled last Christmas time, wtf.

Lately on I-26 Ive seen a lot between exit 97 toward columbia. A little more specific: on exit 97, exit 101, exit 102. (I havent seen them near 101 and 102, but the evidence on ppl pulled, shows their there.)

And Im sure their at I-26 and rout 378. (Im not there a lot but it seems like a good spot.)

Ive seen them on I-77 too, mabey about half way toward Rock Hill from I-20. (I haven't been that way much either.)

All sightings have been Crown Vics.

Yeah, and pretty much just stay off of Wade Hampton blvd(hwy29).

Oh, and a couple weeks back when i was in Columbus, GA, to see my bro graduate airborne i saw DOZENS of motorcycle cops all over I-185 and I-85 between Ft. Benning/Columbus and Atlanta. They were mostly sitting behind overpasses, bridges and exit ramps. Some of them were hiding in the shrubbery in the medians.

This thread is for all of the SE section, so everyone feel free to jump in and post your speed/radar trap spottings. It will be great for people who travel between the different states in this region to see where these things are at.

many years ago duncan police pulled me over going from duncan toward westgate and 2 were sitting in the median just after u went under 85. stopped at the top of the next hill and the street he put on the ticket where he stopped me was tuccapaw rd. i found out later that road was on the duncan side of 85.

Highlands, NC on hwy 64 has acquired 3 new 06 Subaru STI's as the law enforcing car of choice. the rest are WRX's and Foresters. They are really strict through those parts. just thought i would add to it. lol. It's funny seeing those cars w/ light bars and decals but yet badass.

on the new this morning they said we'll know tomorrow what's going on with all the law on 85. also mentioned about a drug bust yesterday. i think they're either looking to catch some of the drugs coming thru or they're looking for someone.

I know the one you are talking about. Its close to a rest area. I went down that hill and my radar detector went nuts. I slowed down what i thought was in time. I was the only person on the road cuz it was late at nite. Anyway, i got to the top of the hill on the other side and looked in my mirror and saw him turn on his headlites (not his blues) and pull out of the median. It almost killed me too, but fortunately i was able to duck into the rest area before he caught up and watched the cop speed by! Hey, it doesn't count as "evasion" if his blues aren't on!

I didn't get that good of a look at it. Any word yet as to what's up on 85? So far, everyone i've seen pulled over has had all the stuff pulled out of their car and on the side of the road. Weird. I thought they need a warrant to search your car.

or probable cause. was there anything similar with all of the vehicles that got pulled? i passed one on my way to GA today on I-85 southbound. then later on i came up onto a state trooper. everyone plays the "im too scared to pass him" game. the trooper realizes this every time and goes 60mph in a 70mph on purpose. so me being the smartass i am i just pull up beside him @ 70mph and smile.

The only thing similar about all the vehicles that i saw pulled over was that most of them had everything in their cars like luggage and stuff pulled out and on the side of the highway. I always pass the police too when they are going less than the legal limit.

Ok, i have a new one to report. On I-85 Southbound at 8:30 this morning in between the 2 ramps for exit 66. He was hiding behind some bushes. I could just barely see him, and i only looked cuz my radar detector was going off. Watch out.

They're back. Now my 20-30 minute commute takes 50-60 minutes.

All over i-85 from Greenville to Spartanburg. Mostly Chevy SUV's and state Crown Vics, even some unmarked Mustangs. A whole bunch of county cops some from out of county even Colleton County (WTF???). This is crazy and ridiculous.

sc has a zero tollerance for speeders anyway, from what i was told... ga has a law for what they are calling "super speeders"!!! anything 20mph over the posted limit, and your fines increase tremindously!!!
