Please Help Me!!

hey ther yall, i have an 88 SE 4 speed auto and i think shes sick...........you see i had a mid pipe welded on it and the guy who did it did a pretty shitty job to be honest, but when i shift through the gears manually it backfires like crazy and when i get past the ridiculous hesitation at 3800rpm. its then sounds like it is back fireing and not really geting gas. i think its just cutting out, or not firing right somehow. any one please help me figure out whats wrong with my car.

You might have a hole in the exhaust where he welded it. If it is near your O2 sensor, your readings will be off. The computer will see the extra oxygen and will try to compensate by adding more fuel. That will basically drown out your spark and help cause misfiring. Look around the welds for leaks. if there are holes, get them welded up.
