Lol, they don't like me much at mx6.com.

I posted a thread about simplifying the engine bay (emissions removal) and running a Megasquirt and they all started a **** storm about how it isn't possible, yet nobody had tried.

I bid him good luck on the 5spd swap, I can't even locate a replacement trans for this one, 3rd gear is going out.

Way to go ATL, nice turn out. Was that at a dealership or were there just that many 6's and 3's there? We were allowed to testdrive the Mazdaspeed 3 and Mazdaspeed 6 at our event....... 2 words, sa-weet.

Ok just making sure. I know the Nikon D40 does not have an autofocus motor built into the body as the D50, D70, D70s, D80, D200, and D2X models do which are all digital. The DX acronym just means that the focal length is a length to short for a full frame sensor of or 35mm film so the miror does not swing into the rear element. Therefore not indicating Nikon's acronym AF-S which indicates a built in autofocus motor inside the lens taking an approach like Canon's EOS system. I'd still double check and I still do not think it will autofocus properly without being an AF-S lens.

Sorry to sound snobby but I do know half of what I'm talking about.

I just googled "Nikkor 10.5 2.8 D40 compatibility" and the first link confirmed yes it will fit on a D40, yes it will take pitures, no it will not autofocus, yes you can manually focus it. It is a Nikkor DX AF 10.5 1:2.8" Not AF-S will not autofocus without a camera that has an autofocus motor. The end.

You are right about the D40.. And after double checking.. All the DX lenses by Nikon will work with D40 except maybe the Fisheye I have (as its acronym is just AF).

Sorry I made a big deal about that. Lenses are expensive though and I felt saving $500-800+ was important.

Wink TIMEWRP GTU makes me smile

Thanks for enjoying my black GTU - it was a rare find. Owned an 88 red GTU in college. Still not many miles 31750. Seeing the gsl-se also brought me back as I bought a silver one after I sold the 88 GTU.

The GTU is great. I still go to the garage every other eve to take a quick peek and plan the next drive or show. I may get an itch for a clean FD so who knows. A sale may be in the future.

Regards, .... GTUAGAIN
