North ATL: Antique Engine Show
If any of y'all are interested, the Cumming engine show is this weekend. It's surprisingly cool, with a bunch of farm-bred fella's firing up their great great great great grand-daddy's steam tractor (note - stay on other side of fairgrounds until they're all up to steam).
There's also a ton of old tractors and farm equipment and my favorites, the hit-and-miss engines. They use a spinning governor to keep the intake valve off the lifter until the engine slows enough, then delivers just enough power strokes to spin the engine up again. Very cool to hear these huge things freewheeling, and only firing a few revs every minute.
Info is HERE, and I'm looking to be there around 10am Saturday.
