Need a title for my 74 REPU -- possibly GA?

I need a title for my REPU. I have all the paperwork for tranfer of ownership from the previous owner in CA to the guy I bought it from in FL and then to me, via bills of sale. I also have an application for title from the owner who had it in CA, because he lost the title. Problem is, neither he nor I can get a new CA title without getting it smogged. I can't get a title in SC or VA without having an actual title, not just bills of sale. Needless to say, this is a piece of info that the FL guy neglected to inform me of, (well, that, and the fact that he accrued over $1000 in storage fees).

I heard once somewhere, I think on this forum, that in GA you don't need a title for a vehicle any vehicle that's over 25 years old. Is this true? If not, does anyone have any ideas for getting a new title?

Thanks,

Ren

Thanks for the info. I think I will use that title company. $150 is a small price to pay for the headaches saved.

Broadway can not do all states. but http://www.its-titles.com/ Seems to be able to do more.

What State are you in?

I Could Register the Truck in GA. You would have to send me a bill of sale. Cash to cover the Registration and Insurance, I could then send you a Regestration and a bill of Sale. This should be what you need to get a title in your state. I talked to the DMV in NC and they said this was correct for them. I was worried that if I moved back to NC that I would not be able to get a title on my 79.

You should have the title for the 79, unless you have a different one now.

turboren,
Use a member in GA to title it there and let them send you the registration, a bill or sale, and then you good to go. I had a member help me out this way on a 79 I bought from GA and could not title it in TN. I paid him 50.00 over the other cost for the help.
