NC DGRR Caravans

I need everyone that is leaving from the Raleigh area or who wants to hook up with an RRDI caravan on April 19 or 20 to respond and add your name to the list for that day. Need to know when you'll be able to leave so that we can organize a caravan according to your needs, if possible. Caravaning to Deals Gap is a lot of fun and insures that you have help and people know what happens to you if you break down; you lead your expertise to the group that someone else might need to avail themselves of in case of a breakdown or other problem, like where do I go from I-40.

Right now we have two caravans that I know about. The Thursday morning caravan group will be meeting at the Cracker Barrel in Morrisville @ 7:30 am and leaving for Fontana Village at 9:00 am, (remember to allow for traffic). Everyone going on Thursday will need to arrive at the CB parking lot by 9:00 am with a full tank of gas and ready to roll if you're not joining us for breakfast. We'll be taking the following route, I-40 W from Morrisville to Asheville, then US Hwy 74, west of Asheville to Needmore, and Hwy 28 to Fontana Village. If you are planning on leaving Thursday afternoon then sign up here or if you want to meet up with us sign up and indicate where you want to join the caravan and we'll settle on a time to meet you, otherwise we'll expect to see you in Morrisville no later than 9:00 am:
1. Bert, GTUser - black 89 GTU - 7:30 am
2. Greg, Turbo II - red ?

There maybe a Thursday afternoon around 1:00 pm to make up to Fontana before dark. If you are planning on leaving Thursday afternoon then sign up here:
1.

The Friday moring caravan members fill in the details of where you're meeting and what time you are leaving the area for Fontana Village, or start your own thread. Someone that has driven up to Fontana Village needs to step up and organize the meet up and caravan. Someone might want to join y'all along the way so be specific about when you are leaving and where to gather, also any details of your route if you're not taking I-40 and US Hwy 74, west of Asheville, to Needmore and Hwy 28 to Fontana Village.
1.

If there is a Friday afternoon caravan then follow the above instructions and someone get the list started by organizing it and step up to volunteer to lead the group up to Fontana:

At the RRDI last Saturday several people indicated they were leaving Thursday morning. Need you guys to sign up for the caravan you want to join. We have several guys already that want to know times the groups are leaving the Raleigh area so that they can make plans and arrangements to meet up and leave with a group. The J'ville guys are looking to meet up somewhere with some of us if we're leaving on Friday but they need to know who, when and where from Raleigh. So if you plan on making the drive up on Friday then post it up and begin a caravan sign up.

Who is leaving on Thrusday after lunch and who is leaving Friday morning and who is planning on taking off after lunch on Friday?

I'd like to leave Thursday AM, as in before NOON!!!!! 6 hour drive, check in is 4pm so I'm guessing leave around 9 after we eat breakfast at Crackerhead Barrel. Will give us time to stop for lunch/gas as needed.

So the Caravan Roster for Thursday Morning so far reads like a WHO's WHO of Rotorheads:
1. Bert, GTUser - black 89 GTU - 7:30 am
2. Greg, Turbo II - red ?
3. Bobby, mrthundercleese - silver 8 (8:30 because I always miss breakfast haha)
4. BC - Maybe
5. Eric Jausel??, Speedjunkie, MB-FD Biscuits and Gravy to go please.

The guys from Jacksonville will be leaving Friday morning and said they could come thru Raleigh and hook up with people leaving Friday AM. The Friday Caravan needs to get organized and someone decide to take the lead on it.

Right now I'm going to say that I'm going with the Friday group, but I may change to the Thursday group at the last minute.

One thing-I live in Burlington, so it would be counter-productive for me to drive to Raleigh and then back this way, so whenever I figure out what day I am going I will let the caravan leader know so we can figure out where we are to meet.

Also, it would probably be a good idea to get a list of cell phone numbers like we did last year. Obviously not put it on the thread here, but possibly do it by PM or email like Doug did last time.

Yeah, Gary or Bobby or Nic usually take care of that site for us. After all they own RX8s and unlike 7 owners aren't working on their cars, looking for spare parts, upgrading components, etc. So they have time to keep that site updated.

Phil, you did put in a request for sunny and mild weather for us that weekend, right?

Hey we work on ours sometimes . I just finished a RP oil upgrade and tire rotation. Now just to change my brake pads and get some new tranny oil in her and she will be dragon ready. All rotaries require some good TLC .
