Hey Phil, FYI - a bunch of RX8s were there this past fall. I wasn't able to go, but it looks like they had a ball. Another is planned for '05. I hope to make both of them.

I am down like four flat tires Hopefully, some of the guys from Raleigh can be persuaded to go too. This should be a nice event, if everyone that has voted actually shows up.

Phil, I'm really disapointed in you for intentionally planning this so close to the Revolution. You let your personal issue with shoe polish on your paint get in the way.

Ryan,
I'm disappointed in that you think that way and posting on this thread (in public) instead of PMing me or calling me. I'll respond in the same matter....
I've tried to help out for your magazine and also helped out Mike last year in his RR. I've talked to few rotary owners and also checked with event schedule on the http://www.tailofthedragon.com/calendar.html.
Other weekend would of been either the week of Rotary Revolution or 2wks before or 4 wks after Rotary Revolution, as you could see on the schedule. Month of June is completely booked up and no one seems to go during march as some of the resorts aren't open. Also, this is a FREE event, No admission, just to show up and DRIVE. Why are you disappointed in that its 2 weeks before RR?? Plenty of time to do both and also look at the demographic of people who showed up?? Very few from SE area acturally showed up to that event.. SO, is there a rule that I need to follow when this decission was made not just solely by me?? And you assuming that I had personal issue with RR?? I'm not sure if you talked to organizers of RR, but I've spend couple of hours, talking and suggesting what they could do to improve for this coming year. If I was truely pissed about the paint, I wouldn't be making a lawsuit not holding back for 6 month and suggesting on the forum. And one of the organizer deleting the thread which I was explaining my situation.. Which, if this personal issue you are talking about exist on the forum still, I would like you to post the link to that thread... As its gone.

Suggestion that was made by SPOautos:
I think this is a great idea and we should decide on a location or each state should organize a location where they could meet and caravan upto Deals Gap.

Say people come from up north and filter down to Nashville where others can join in, then thru Huntsville, then Bham. At the same time there is a caravan from the south starting somwhere in FL going up thru the pan handle and meet with people in Mobile, then that south caravan and the north caravan all meet in Birmingham, then the entire thing goes thru Atlanta to meet with people then it all ends up in Deals Gap where we all have fun.
I think it would be awesome. Anyone else like that idea (or something similar anyway)?

I know Impulsive, 13b4me, and I all live in the same city. We could gather a "crystal coast caravan" together. I have already posted this thread on a local message board as well.

You are completely mistaken about this, this is something that we had been trying to plan since last year, and it just so happen'd that once we got everything set we were not left with many open dates since everything else was already book'd. I really don't see how this will affect RR, it is two weeks before RR and it is free, the only thing that anyone has to pay for is there hotel stay and maybe food but we are working on that too, so it should not affect RR in anyway.

I asked them to link to this thread. So, the link is fixed as of now. i will also ask tim to add the deals gap info on to our website.
Also, can you email everyone about this event? I know its early but better early than too late.

I'm just happy there is event within my own state border. Back when I had my DSM I traveled 14hours to Ohio for the DSM shoot out. I don't get to take much time off with my job so a fun 7hour trip sounds great to me. Especially since I've been dying to go to Deals Gap anyways.

The Deals Gap thing is great for people like me who have 100k on their turbo motor, no $$$ for a rebuild, and don't wanna drive their 7 halfway across the continent. Plus it'll be great having all these rotaries right here in my backyard! I hope we get a good turnout with all RX generations, and it'd be nice to see some REPU's too.

Unlike Rotary Revolution, there are no AutoX, no Drag, nor driving school. Its all about enjoying the scenic drive and hanging with people you know or getting to know new people. There will be no pressure for people to push their car for competition like setting.
There are couple of people in AL area who own a rare rotary vehicle. Most likely they will be attending this event (R100, RX2, RX3, RX4, and REPU).

Of course it'll affect SE guys attending the Revolution, it's naive to think it wouldn't. Most people can't take 2 weekends off that close together, or there'd be hell to pay when they get back home. That's just how it is.
There is a personal issue with you here Phil, whether or not it dictated the date I can't say. But it would obviously cause you to be less considerate of them for sure. If that weren't the case, then I doubt I would received 2 separate PM's from your club members saying as much.
All I can say is that I'd encourage you to reconsider your date. The Revolution is the only BIG rotary event left now that Sevenstock is gone. It's important that we all stick together on it, whether you like them or not, you have a responsibility as a club President to recognize that fact.

Ok, I kept my big mouth shut. What is up with you man? You are a mod? Then why are you carrying this on in the public forum and not in PM or on the phone?
As for the date.....I personaly along with others have NO intention on attending RR, therefore this is the best for us. It is, as mentioned SEVERAL times.....free! This and the fact that it is close to my childs' spring break enables me to go to this event. It is easier for me to take 1 day off for this then to take off a week for RR. Furthermore, why would a mod want to bash a get together that most of us want in the first place?
If you have a personal issue with Phil, then take it to a PM or phone call, but in my opinion you are making the ones here on this forum choose sides. Is this the proper way to conduct this? I would think not.
Mods I thought were to stop bashing and monitor the behavior of others.....Gee, what am I missing here? This along with RR needs the support of ALL. In my humble opinion, you are losing support for RR from the people here because of the way you are conducting yourself and speaking out against an event ( gathering) that WE want to go to.
Just speaking my mind..........clean this up man. Your the mod!

Ryan, You are still missing it, what happen'd with Phil and RR last year has NOTHING to do with our Deals Gap meeting, again this is a event that we have been trying to put together for a while now, we gauge'd interest from the SE section and went from there. The only thing that may keep people from attending the RR is the weather. As far as I know there are still plenty of people who plan on doing both, which is not as hard as you think and is the very reason we want'd to do something that would cost as little as possible for anyone who want'd to attend both events. I can't believe you seriously want us to consider changing the dates, that's like asking MichRx7 to change the dates of RR if we would have post'd our event date first, it's not going to happen. You say that we should stick together because RR is the only BIG rotary event left, and I completely agree but what about those that can't make it to RR or who will not have the funds for RR? I've attend'd both RR's and enjoy'd myself and will continue to attend as long as I have the ability but I think you are out of place to ask us to change our event dates.
Phil's differences with RR are just that, Phil's. We are thinking of the rotary community as a whole.

I don't have a personal issue with anyone, Phil has been a friend to me in the past. But me posting here is what prompted a couple of the club members of yours to write me sharing the same sentiment.
I guess I shouldn't say anything, people are just going to take it wrong and get all bent out of shape. I'm just always caught in the middle ... who cares. Me saying something won't change a thing. Asking to change a date this far in advance seems like a pretty simple thing to me, but what do I care. I'll go away now.
