Let me introduce myself.
Hello all, my name is Matt Mueller and I live in Huntsville Alabama. I just purchased a 93 MB FD, and even though I know the R1 was not offered in MB it has the R1 lip and dual oil coolers. I find it odd, but hey it was a welcome surprise. The car has a brand new Atkins rebuild in it, literally it only has the miles that are on the trip, 340, and new turbos. I work on the arsenal for the NASA, and wanted to offer up a friendly hello.
Cheers, oh and any advice on why I only blow hot air regardless if the AC is on or not would be awesome. I think the heater door is stuck open, but I haven't taken anything apart yet...

Welcome Minagera! May you enjoy your new FD and may your pockets run deep! hehheh
Check to see if there's any R-12 in the system... When I bought mine it was bone dry and did the same thing.

Well the R12 was take out and converted to R134a. I can see a good bit of freon running by the sight glass, so I think that system is working. The thing is whether the AC is on or not the **** is turned all the way cold so I should get at least ambient temp right? I get hot air all the time :-(

You can check your "blend-door" although you have to crawl under the dash.
Also...if you have access to a/c gauges or a a/c machine, or go to a shop, you can check the system pressures.
Sure you have refrigerant but something in the system might be the cause of your problem. (clog, bad valve, etc.)
