It's official, I've gone to the dark side...

Well Monday I drove 12 hours to pick up this POS. It took me 15 hours to get back, freakin long trip...

For those that don't know, I sold my RX-7 about three weeks ago. It was a sad day. I was really kicking myself because I missed it so much. Now after picking this 68 Rustang Fastback, I'm ready to dive in with the restoration process. It's going to be a long slow build but hopefully it will be fun! I'll probably always miss the 7 but I know I'll enjoy this one just as much. Too bad I couldn't keep them both...

Hopefully these pictures will not burn anyone's eyes...lol I promise I will not drag it out to Deal's Gap this year. Since I'll be riding shotgun this year, just look for that a-hole with the loud speaker - that'll be me!

I see that is the famous 'dual' driver seat model.

You may miss the 7, but that looks like a great project, and when you are finished, you should have something more collectable than the 7.

Enjoy.

That does look like an awesome project. Keep us updated. If you need some help let me know. My up-bringing was Muscle cars.

My uncle in-law in Chattanooga just got done building a 68 Fastback. Its pretty sweet. I'll list the mods roughly.

90 GT 302 engine retro'd to carb
Edelbrock Performer Air Gap Mainfold
Demon 750 carb
351 cam (what grind I have no idea, sound good)
Full rotisserie on the body and chassis
04 Cobra purple-ish blue
Flaming river steering column
Rack and pinion conversion
TKO T-56 tranny
Converted to hydraulic clutch
Can't-remember-the-name fully adjustable front suspension
SSBC slotted rotors and 4 piston calipers
MSD 6AL ignition box, Blaster coil, and Unilite distributor
BeCool radiator with E-fan thermostatically contolled
Battery box in the trunk
Smoke glass all around (not tint-very $$$)
Brand new everything interior (seats TBD)
GT40 Heads ported with Trick Flow valvetrain
Holley Fuel pump and regulator

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. The car is running just fine. but is awaiting the interior guy to finish the door panels and trunk liner. He also is waiting till last to pick out some wheels, so its rolling on stock 68 Cobra wheels.

Put I'm with little Paul, 20B all the way!

I haven't totally decided which route I'm going with the car. It's got a 289 in it right now but I'm going to scrap it in favor of the 351W that was in the back of the truck. Besides that, I'm still looking over other people's setups to see what I like and what I don't. I do know that I'm going to do an all out rotisserie restoration too. It should be fun. RIght now it's in my neighbor's barn collecting dust until my wife picks out a house she likes. It'll be summer before I start tearing her down. I'll keep my web page updated with progress pictures.
