Interviewing for a job in the Atlanta area...

Soo, I'm going to be interviewing for a job in Atlanta, and I wanted to know how the housing situation is in the areas surrounding Atlanta. And is the traffic horrible every day?

Also, do you have to pass emissions tests before you can register a car (if I have to)? Because I'm pretty sure my car won't... even though the emissions is hooked up.

Is it possible to rent a house with a garage that isn't in the ghetto? (for a reasonably price, reasonably close to where people work?)

Yes emissions in some counties. If it is in the Metro Atlanta area, then you will have them.
Traffic sucks. I-75 north of the city is slammed during rush hour (BTW, that is 8 lanes in just one directions). Fridays are the worst. Don't even think about getting on the roads around Atlanta from about 3 pm till 7.
You can find homes to rent with garages that are not in the "ghetto". I live in Decautr by Emory Univ. and I see house for rent over there all the time. Of course that may be because it is by a college.

Is that to say that you got the job? Let us know where the job really is. If it's Buckhead, then there's no way to live close and cheap - it's either one or the other. Where are you gonna be?

I'm probably going to look for a place in Bremen... which is fairly close to Buchanan, were the factory is (middle of nowhere).

I'm going to need a garage though... DD'ing an RX-7 without a place to work on it is not a good idea...

Plus I'm probably going to need room for a transport vehicle for a bike/kart assuming I can actually do the job long enough to pay for those hobbies.

(and I want tennis courts near by...)

Yeah, Bremen is a lot more developed than Buchanan, and you should be able to find the place you're looking for. You won't have emissions or safety inspections, so you're free to do whatever you want to the car. Atlanta's a little bit of a haul from there, but you should come up to Road Atlanta for Petit LeMans and the Mitty, at least
