INTEREST IN FORMING A JAPANESE SpORts CAR CLUB

When we were down at the Brits & Battleship Car Show back in November there was a guy several of us met that was interested in getting support together for a Japanese Sports Car Club similar to the British Sports Car Club of the Cape Fear. He had an old Datsun Fairlady that he was restoring and thought there might be some interest in such a Club. That would encompass owners of Mazdas (even Miata owners), Nissan and Datsuns, Toyotas, Honda Sports Cars, Acura NSX, etc.

Anyone think this is an interesting idea?

Maybe he's talking about a nationwide club, where all the smaller local clubs become chapters?

sounds fun, but nothing too serious...like having to give up my first kid or my left nut.

Notice I didn't say "Mazda" or even "Rotary" Sports Cars. It would not take the place of anything already going but be a group representing all Japanese sports cars and their owners. This group would be totally inclusive and would include owners that appreciate Datsuns, Nissans, Mazdas, Subarus, Acuras, maybe even Toyotas and Hondas.

The British Sports Car Club of the Cape Fear encompasses all makes of British sports cars, but there are members that are also members of the Triumph, MGs, Lotus, Jaguar, Cooper, etc sports car clubs. It is an umbrella group that includes all Brit Sports Cars.

Just an idea.

Umbrella group, ok I get it.
So, would there be one big meet / car show, kind a like what the British S.C.C. does once or twice a year?

That could be one of the events that would be held. They have affiliate members such as the Triumph Owners of the Carolinas that host events and drives that members of the British SCCofCF could participate in. To me its all about sharing our love of certain cars and getting others interested and informed about our passion, in our case rotary powered vehicles but I also really enjoy seeing and talking to owners of MGs, Triumphs, Austin Healeys, Morgans and Lotuses.

If something like that existed unlike the british car clubs, where most of them are a mature enough to enjoy a cruise or just enjoy each other's effort in cars. A japanese car club would eventually consist of nothing but a bunch of honda guys or ricers, doing burn outs and then trying to get people to go race. Sounds like a good bad idea ....IMO

Yeah, that occurred to me too when I started listing the Japanese Sports cars, you'd have to be very speicific what models would be eligible and it could get to be more of a hassle than fun. If we could keep it to RX7's & 8's. miatas, 240Z-300 ZX & 350Zs, S2000, vpqroihgq[onv!!! Forget it, it would eventually be taken over by the ricers and the true sports car guys would quit coming.
