We have all been in your situation. So give all of us, any of us time to help. We all have lives too and can't just drop it because you send a post for help and we can't respond in a day.

The Gainesville / Ocala meet is Saturday, Nov. 21.

12:30 - 1 PM meet up at the Publix parking lot in Gainesville (somebody post the address.)

1 PM (or thereabouts) Gainesville group leaves for Ocala.

2 PM all cars meet at the Hooters in Ocala at 3451 SW College Rd. (off I-75)

Gainesville Publix is right off the Williston Rd exit at Williston Rd and 34th St. Can't miss it!

I stopped by Joe's today to help him with his car...pretty clean Turbo. My initial reaction is it is flooded to hell and we may have to get a larger vehicle and push start it. That being said, I supposed it could be blown as well due to what happened. Very interesting situation.

 

I had two ideas for the meet. I thought I'd run them by you guys.

I have a digital camera, nothing special. But it takes a decent pic and does videos.

I thought if we could arrange the cars in a semi-circle we could get a group pic with the owners standing by their cars. (Is there a back part of the Hooters lot that would be big enough? Or another open area nearby?)

Group shots have been done before. Nothing new there.

I was also thinking of trying to do a video of a "group rev." I'd be willing to tip a Hooters waitress $10 or something, then on her signal, all the cars would rev their engines at once for a group rev. It won't sound like a bunch of Harley's, but it might be interesting. I haven't heard of it being tried before.

If anyone has better camera or video equipment than me, please bring it along.

 

There is the abandoned Circuit City lot...or the mall. I don't think there is enough space at Hooters.

The restaurant next to Hooters was closed but when I drove by there the other day, it seemed like a new restaurant had finally opened or else I'd say park there.

Everything else sounds good to me.

A group photo usually requires the cars to be arranged in a sort of half circle so all the cars fit into the frame with a frontal view and nobody's in a back row. That requires a decent size open area. I'm sure we can find one nearby.

The "group rev" is done as much for the sound as the visual.
I think it would make for a fun video to have a Hooters waitress wave a flag or a napkin to have all the cars rev their engines in unison.
I suppose we could do that with the cars where they are in the parking lot, or arrange them in two rows, or something. If everyone's willing, we can find a way to make it work.

I have a VHS camcorder that gets better sound than my digital camera. I'll bring it along. The only drawback is it's more difficult for me to put a VHS video on the web. If anyone has better equipment than mine, please bring it along.

 

yea i think a grup pic and rev is a great idea and the old circuit city parking lot would prolly be the best place to do so.
