Free Dyno Day/Car Club Showdown Columbia, SC

My name's Richard Matthews. Some of y'all may know me, some of y'all may remember me, some have no clue who I am. I started High Tach with Clint Davis back in 98-99 and Midnight with Byung Park. I'm the guy with the yellow FD (tirerack.com sticker), been to a few Raleigh hangouts, etc... Anyway, I've been living in Greensboro for the past 3 years and work as a financial advisor. Moving up in the company has turned out well for me, and soon all the people I used to hang out with back in the day!!

I'm sponsoring a Car Club Showdown at Spooled Motorsports' dyno on Saturday, April 28th. COMPLETELY paid for. The idea is for car club members and non-affiliates to register and get 2-3 pulls (TBD based on entries). We'll average the hp numbers for each car club and the winning car club will win an engraved plaque. Instead of having to street race, I figured this would be one way to have a definitive ranking to the highest hp club in the carolinas.

On a side note, I'm using dollars from my marketing budget to cover this, so if anyone is interested in financial planning, investment planning (stocks, bonds, real estate), paying down debt, retirement or estate planning, there are some checkmarks to add on the registration page for me to get back with you on that.

Space is limited to the first 65 entries, so hurry and register at http://www.spooled-motorsports.com/dynoevent.php

Rules:

5 car minimum per team (if a team shows up with less, they will all be grouped into the "I have no friends" team)

2 runs each up to 25 cars, if over 25 registered, 1 run

Highest pull out of 2 pulls

NO TUNING!

No wideband hookup

No disclosure of hp numbers on individual basis, only team averages will be announced

Winning team will win a trophy with name plate engraved. (looking to do this semi-annually.)

Saturday will start at 9:00AM for registration, first pull will be 9:30

Order on dyno will be posted at 9:30. (Keep in mind, coolest air will be in the morning)

If you register online and are not present by 10:00AM, you will not be able to participate for your team.

If you or a friend show up and have not registered, there will be a will-call for any open spots due to no shows. Will-call registration starts at 9:50.

If you are called and not present within 10 minutes, your entry is revoked

Bring drinks, ice, food, girls, music, RC cars, whatever you like for the day

Winning team will be announced at the end of the event

Looking to hire a dj and currently have some other automotive sponsors at the event for free stuff and promotions

If you know of a company interested in showing up, no cost for exposure, email me at roadracing7@sc.rr.com

What are you waiting for? It's FREE!

PS- I'll actually have the RX-7 out there, and hopefully making a strong showing for the non-affiliates!! Good luck and hope to see all y'all out there.

What's up Richard, I remember you.. not sure if you remember me though. I hung around Hightach way back then with my 10th ae.. I think I stayed at your house one time. I have a faint memory of a bunch of us piling into your parent's conversion van and doing burnouts.

Anyway, enough nostalgia; this sounds like a sweet event, especially since it's free! I'd like to come check it out but I don't think I'll be competing. Unless there's a prize for the lowest hp output for the day? I sold my 10th ae in '03 to another HTM member and now I've got a nice '86 n/a; fun to drive but a bit lacking in the power department. Good luck with everything!

Richard, Chris Osborne here. We hung out a few times back in the day. I own dowling's fd now. It's a tad faster

Let me know what I can do to help out. I could use some promotion for illstreet.com and the new body kit site we just completed.

So you get to go and do a dyno pull, but they don't actually give you a print out?

nah im trying for a mannual swap if i can get the cash needed. then just put my FC under the knife for while while i proceed with Project V and a Mannual swap.mi need new shocks and springs while im at it. i mikght just buy a new timming belt for my old Vovlo 740 Turbo INtercooler wagon and drive that back and forth to work come august cause i seriously doubt my FC would be done by then. Project V will be a major undertaking with a rebiuld mixed in cause my engines on its death bed.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to y'all. I thought I put all the information up in the first post. Go to www.spooled-motorsports.com and sign up. Registration ends Sunday, April 22nd. Still a few spots left and not enough rotaries signed up. HURRY UP!
Bring your own food/drinks.
You will get a copy of your dyno sheet, but we won't be announcing everyone's individual numbers (some people won't want everyone to know).
Any questions, IM me at Roadracing7 on AIM. Hope to see a few of you there.

I've signed up too, Gianni is probably coming too and he said Vick would probably be all over it. I'm looking forward to learning I have 120 hp, sweet!
What about Toby?
