I am currently in the process of bringing my RHD FD from Japan. The FD was never crash tested, and must crash the same as a left hand drive vehicle or it will not be "legal" stateside, It has taken over three years to get the cars together to be crash tested by NHTSA ,since the cars had to be virtually sound, but myself and a group of seven owners pooled money to get it done.We are also going to be the sole owners of all patents and information received as a result of the crash testing.Once our cars our stateside we will allow others to buy the info needed to legally bring FDs' stateside. I have legally imported (3) RHD first gens, once all information from crash testing is complete we will be letting 7 owners know what must be done in order to get RHDs' that already exist in the U.S properly registered.

Yo, what's the skinny on this? Did you guys get a place to conduct the crash testing and submitt the data? Are you guys crashing 1st gens only or 2nd and 3rd too?

I wouldn't mind having TMO ship my last FD here so I can send it back when I PCS.
