Just a couple of thoughts:

1) Oct 2 is a holiday for some people (Yom Kippur).

2) Why is every meet so far south? You do know some people live in/around Broward right?

Unless the point is that it's a "Down South" club.

A caravan doesn't make the distance any better, making meets a little closer north does.

 

vOc, although I agree with you, the fact is this is a Miami based club. The majority of its members live in south Miami, so we meet in Miami. We have discussed at the meet possibly finding a place further north to meet and alternating meeting spots to better accomidate our brothers in broward, but as this is a brand new club, we need to get our sh*t together first before we can start relocating.
Dont worry man, that was an issue I always had with... another club... I tryed to get them to meet up at Oakwood Plaza (Dave and Busters) MANY times but no one wanted to take the drive. I will personally make a point of expressing your concern at the next meet.
This is a club 'of the members'. All suggestions are welcome and Vil and everyone else involved will do their best to accomidate everyones needs.
If you can make the drive to Hooters next week your company would be appreciated greatly, and I thankyou in advance for making the effort to meet us so far south if you do decide to come.

...Miami is pretty large. North Miami Beach is Miami. I'm not suggesting that far north, but lets get out of Kendall and the surrounding areas sometimes please.

Yeah I am with this guy. North Miami not south enough for ya? Oakwood plaza to me is close but I dont need it that close I dont mind alittle drive but man Kendall is like as far south as you can get.

 

Hello Voc, I totally understand you, however I was putting some thought toogeher and I wanted to share.

Being that the "Majority of the club is south Miami" I would think that if we did the meets up north the people down south would be in the same roll your in, being to far for them, so really its a no win situation here for the club.

However, I think that this club is worth the drive, we are "PREACHING" lol a different verse here we are a "member" club not a dictator club" I would think that being able to do the meets up north would be cool, but I am sure some of the members would beg to differ.

Voc have you ever thought of North Miami club? I don’t mean being in rivalry with us but in harmony getting together making one big end of the month party, meeting half way for the event. I think its something you should consider.

And just to let you in on something the meets were going to be even more down south in US1, we decided to make it closer for you guys, I know its not as close as you would like, but like I said, this club is going to GREAT!!!!!!!

You guys are missing what me and voc are saying. Dont go north. stay in Miami but why not meet up somewhere south of hiaeah or something. Only thing more south then kendall is homestead. If all you guys are 10mins away from the spot just move it another 10 mins north. Eh forget it I am sure you guys will have a meet that isnt an hour away from north miami

 

I wasn't asking to do the meets up north. I was suggesting that you should move the location even sometimes to somewhere that is more or less in the middle.


No, the club shouldn't be "worth the drive". If this is a Miami club, or a south florida club you should attempt to accomodate the entire Miami-Dade County. Having meets somewhere outside of Kendall would benefit everyone, not just a select few. Wouldn't a higher member turnout be a good and pleasant thing?


No I haven't thought of a North Miami club, that's just stupid. There isn't that large of a rotary scene to literally split the Miami-Dade county rotary population in 2. Nor is there enough interest.


I hope it does turn out great, but lets try to be fair to our Northern members.

I know what you said, and I said I agreed with you, neodriftout suggested Hialeah I think it’s a great idea.

I beg to differ the club to me is certainly worth the drive, and I do agree with you
a higher member turnout would be a good and present thing!


Well I don’t think the idea was "STUPID" as you put it, and I think that you would be able to cover all of Broward as well making it a great turnout, and joining together at the end of the month, to me sounded great, don’t get me wrong now, I would love for all of us to meet up, but if there is a such a big concern on distance, I think the true fanatics of rotary have no distance come between them and their passion.

But then again you said there is not enough interest did you not????




I think so 2, and I do really hope to see you there, and hopefully alternate meeting in Hialeah, so you could be a part of this great club.....

Word, I ran my car on a dyno in hialeah and it wasnt a bad drive at all.

Vilmarie im pretty sure everyone knows what went down as this has been an ongoing ugly battle for a whil now. I respect you ALOT which is why i am joining the club you founded and i was the first to nominate you for President. All im saying is to leave it in the past and be the bigger person. And you can not sit here and tell me that you along with others have continued to trash Val and make jokes about him. All you are doing is feeding fuel to the fire and from what i understood the main reason to start this club is to leave the drama behind. If people keep talking about it and arguing about it, then what is different?

 

wow cant we all just stop and can ppl just stop being lazy to drive, i know ill drive as far as i can to meet with you all for the first time and not to forget that i have no prob with this cuz i love driving my car, but i was thinking can we all just point out a list of members in this club or w/e and the see where the majority of ppl in the club live and then just make a meet for the dudes in the south and dudes from up north (which includes me) and everyone will win, idk i dont feel like i have a say anyways if im willing to drive no longer then 20min to a meet depending on the amount of ppl whos going to show up, but yea i think everyone here gets my point hopefully

No offense dude, but you don't know what you're talking about. The argument they are having is not about driving distance. Unless you are addressing the earlier argument, which then yes....it was about driving distance.
