I'm currently using my FD as a daily driver. I recently sold the wheels I had on my car to get new ones so I'm using the regular stockers for now.

Now I'm on the fence on whether or not to go ahead and get some new wheels, or instead to pick up a cheap daily driver.

I know my better conscious tells me to get a daily driver, but man the stockers I have now are completely nasty with dirt and grime and it would just be so much nicer to get some new wheels.

So I need to here from people to get my mind straight, let me have it, lol

 

Get some Simple Green, scrub the crap outta the wheels, then go buy a Tercel or a pick up.

You KNOW you're gonna need a car to get to the auto parts store when the FD takes a ****.

lol, no shot that would happen, the shady tow truck owners will take the car and have it in romania before the amateur wheel thieves get to it.

I just don't understand the point of DD's, unless we are talking about *****. To me its like this:
You walk out into the garage in the morning to go to work, and your going to walk PAST the FD to get into the Prius.... Thats like walking into a bar with a supermodel at one table and on the other side of the bar at another table is a nasty hooker that smells bad, is ugly, and has been banged by every dude in town. Your gonna get laid either way, which one you gonna talk to??

 

Be like me...get a FB RX-7 for cheap and make that your DD. Some need some TLC, but having an older rotary to work on and drive is refreshing. As long as the carb is tuned right and you got your ignition timing correct (and you don't keep your foot buried), you'll average over 20mpg easy. I get 23-24 on the highway and about 21 average.

 

Well here are my particular issues with driving the FD every day:

1. I drive at least 50-60 miles a day between work and school
2. Gas is almost $4/gal and the FD makes like 15-20mpg
3. The highway I have to take to work is in absolutely terrible conditions and I literally feel like every bolt in the car is about to fall off.
4. You can't consistently work on the car or take on some projects if you need the car working every day

If I didn't drive so many miles, and the highways around here didn't feel like a WRC circuit, I wouldn't mind at all driving the FD every day.

 

How much do you want to spend on a DD?

 

Really cheap, no more than $1500 or so. I'm thinking like a mid 90's civic or accord. All I want is working a/c and of course a good drivetrain, anything else is free game.

The other thing holding me back is that I'm graduating next month, so I'm thinking of just holding out until then and re-evaluate what I need.

 

very good analogy but now ask yourself this. how much money do you still have in your pocket after you banged the hot supermodel none cause she is expensive as hell to sleep with and maintain. hence the DD.

my vote is for the DD. Cannot own an FD without a DD or a monster bank account

 

You forgot the 3rd option, Ménage à trois. Thats why I have an rx-8 and will soon have a 7 in the garage. You can have your pick of two hot chicks any time you want, and the wife wont complain (except perhaps about the petrol bill).
