Talking Cleveland County NC

Hey guys just leaving a quick post to ask about trusted repair shops in the Cleveland County NC area. Anyone know of any? I recently picked up an 86 GXL in near mint condition, with 91000 miles. It was left parked for at least a year. I plan to do its 60k tune up before attempting to start it up, just to be sure its been done. Id like to drop it by a decent shop, just to give it a full check over before its first crank though. This car is in such good shape, Id rather not have my inexperiance mess it up lol

Generally, I use "Wilkies Tire and Auto". They are in Northern Cleveland County. Just take Hwy 74 to Hwy 226 in Shelby, and drive north. They are about 10 - 15 miles up on the left. If you get the the 2nd REAL traffick lite (not the flashing yellow lites - they don't count), you've gone too far. Turn around and go back for about 1/2 mile.

Though, you could just do it yourself. Just change all your fluids, flush the radiator, change the spark plugs/wires and coils, and you should be good to go.

Where do you live? Maybe we should meet up sometime.

Oh cool deal. I know where Wilkies is. I just didnt know they could work on rotarys (so few people in this area can lol).

Im up for meeting up if you are. I live in Fallston and work in Shelby. Ive really not seen a whole lot of other owners in this area though. The only one I know of works at the DC where I do... never met the guy, just see his car parked up.

Oh yeah, Wilkies is good. I've never had them pull the motor apart or anything, but yeah, I've had them do quite a bit of work on both my cars. They know what they are doing.

Well, I live in Polkville ( I just say I live in Shelby, cuz more people know where that is lol ). Yeah, I can meet up sometime. Let me know what's best for you. I work down in Spartanburg, SC from M-F, 8-5. So, I'm available most weekends and late afternoons.

I do know of a 1st gen in Lawndale. It's parked in a driveway EVERY time I drive by. I've never stopped by to see what's up with it though.

Im here man, sorry. I should have warned you. I work weekends at the DC in shelby... 6am-6:30pm sat-monday. Most weekends, after that shift of loading trucks, im pretty much wipped out lol. Im up for meeting just about any time in the evenings Id say. The tune up should be done by the end of the week, and the wheels on, so maybe I can even bring the car and not drive my beater lol

pshh, don't worry about it man. I figured thats what it was since nearly everyone who works at the DC works some sorta weird shift. Quick question for ya. Does the DC give you "shift differential"? For instance, you work 3 shifts each lasting 12 hours. In most places that do those kinda shifts, you get payed for 40 hours even though you only worked for 36.

Anyway, let me know what's best for you and what/where you had in mind . . .

We dont get paid for 40 there. You only get paid for your clock time (which, normaly is 12 hours... this week it was over 13 a day:-| ) The only kinda shift differential we get is I think we make like... 2 bucks more per hour lol Yup. I know. Cheap aint they? lol

As for what I had in mind... Id say sometime next week maybe (gives me a chance to get the car running strong) and as for where it would just depend on where you lived. Could meet at Jerrys in polkville, or Ingles on 74, whichevers closer.

We could meet at Jerry's in polkville. Considering that it's only like 2/10 of a mile from my house . . .

Next week sometime will be fine.
