Sen...I don't have it with me...but talk to me about the GSL-SE Suspension. I have all the GSL-SE parts you would need about an hour from Orlando. I bought a FC hood from you a few years ago...you can't miss me...a 6'6" white dude driving a silver FD.

Quite frankly, I have a huge announcement that I'm going to talk to the Central Florida Rotary Club about.

As a teaser...all I'm going to say is...imagine I had access to roughly 1 million dollars worth of old school RX7 Parts...primarily first gens. Including hoods, fenders, etc still in factory boxes and never removed/used EVER for over 20yrs. I also have access to discontinued parts and more used parts than you can imagine for 1st gens and some 2nd gen. Dead Serious.

I'm building the site to sell the parts as we speak and will be setting up a vendor account on the forums. As you can imagine...I have quite a bit to inventory.

I didn't sell much, but I sure did enjoy the heck out of being able to meet new rotor enthusiasts. For example Killerbee, Fastec Racing and Gringo Grande and many others. Thats what it is all about for me! So when is the next one? Raul thanks for having us their once again. Gringo Grande hope you can get what we spoke about going (rx7 surplus parts) and also thank you for coming out and hanging out with us. Landon thanks as well for sharing your time with us spite the fact of coming from far away, Keep us posted of any similar events out in the Tampa area. Talk to you all later!

An Outsiders Point of View

I will probably offend someone with my observations. All I can say is my intent is not to offend or criticize anyone. I'm hoping my observations as a first time attendee and outsider to the group will benefit both the organizers and attendees in the future.

Impressions of the Central Florida Rotary Group: I've chatted back and forth with members of the group online and watched their threads. After spending the day getting to know some of the members my personal impression is not only is this a great group of rotary lovers but a great group of people in general. Everyone was very friendly and had a good sense of humor. Then again maybe it was because I'm like a foot taller than everyone else there! =)

Impressions of the Swap Meet Location: One of the members of the Club apparently has a little bit of property that he opens up for the event. I felt the location was good and there was a fair amount of room to grow. I suspect that they could fit another 10-20 vendors/vehicles there but after that...no mas.

I didn't know what to expect so I'm glad I brought some sheets to place on the ground to set parts on since it was quite dusty. The dust would be my only complaint about the location.

Impressions of the Swap Meet as a Vendor: I spoke with several people who weren't happy with $15 vendor fee and mentioned that as a reason why several people chose not to come. IF there had actually been a large enough crowd of people to truly support being a vendor (by my standards meaning I made at least $150-$300 by being a vendor) this $15 fee would be VERY reasonable. Unfortunately...there were not enough buyers to support this.

The real problem with this swap meet if you were going to exclusively to sell is that the target market is wrong. 90% of the people there were "hard core" rotary enthusiast. By this I mean people who have the knowledge and ability to part out a car or take apart an engine. These aren't the guys who are going to buy something unless it is rare or they desperately need a particular item.

If this event could provide a 10:1 ratio of buyers to vendors it would be amazing. I'm not certain it is possible to achieve that however. I was very fortunate and made a few dollars. My primary reason for attending was to meet people and once again I cannot say enough about the positive experience I had with the Orlando Rotary Club. Super Friendly!

Miscellaneous Impressions: I thought it was cool that the Spanish Language radio station was playing advertisements for the Rotary Swap Meet. Seriously, how awesome is that? The organizers of the event put good thought into laying out marked, 10x10 vendor areas, providing a port-o-let, food, and once again a good location.

I would say that after being there for 8 hours, I only had one true negative perception toward the end of the event. I apologize if I offend anyone with this but personally, this one instance left a very bad impression on me.

I spent $15 to be a vendor, I drive 2hrs down to be at the event, and I made about $100. Then, at the end of the event, some guy I don't know nor have I ever seen walks up and starts asking for donations...and is pushy/persistent about it? Not cool. I had a real problem with this.

Final Thoughts: My final thoughts regarding the event are as follows. I had a great time meeting the Orlando Rotary Club and spending time with them. I'm looking VERY forward to doing more events with you. I don't think anyone could ask for a better group of rotary owners to hang out with.

In regards to the Swap Meet PURELY from a vendor/business perspective...I'm not certain if it is a feasible event due to the lack of true "buyers". To hang out with people and maybe find one item you are looking for locally instead of getting it off the forums? Sure. It might be a better idea to hold the event at a park or something in the future with no vendor fee and let people wheel and deal as they may. I do not believe I would attend as a vendor in the future unless I had pre-paid sales. I would 110% attend again to hang out with a great group of guys and for the friendship and fun.

I acknowledge and appreciate the amount of time and work that went into setting up this event and I thank the Central Florida Rotary Club for taking the time to make it happen. I apologize if my observations offended anyone but I tried to do my best to give an unbiased view of the event.

I look forward to spending time with the Club in the future and I thank you once again for the friendship and hospitality that you provided a visitor for out of town.

^^^Seems like a very honest and unbiased view of the event. I don't think anyone would or should find offense to it. I'm a big C. FL rotary fan since attending their Orlando Friday meet. Great group of people.

Don't exaggerate - you're more like 2' taller than anyone there.

I showed up as a spectator/buyer, but for the record, I would have brought a car full of parts to sell/trade if there wasn't a $15 fee. I realize there was food and a port-a-potty there, and possibly a fee to advertise on the radio, but, like Gringo - I question wether the fee kept others away and wether the benifits of the fee outweigh the burdons... I think people with only a few parts might have been intimidated by the fee. My idea would be to have an organized vendor area ( possibly a small fee like $5 or even $10), and then a separate unmarked area for others to congregate or a consignment table or even just a silent auction area or something. Just my thoughts on increasing attendance.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. I think the swap meet should also have a rotary car show component to it. I think that would bring out "Joe Public" to see some car eye candy and then pick up some parts that were for sale. If there was a car show of sorts, then, some of that $15 vendor fee could be used to buy a trophy or two for some type of event. That might draw in a better market crowd. The group that was there, I feel, all could rebuild their own engines and were not the typical buyers at a casual swap meet. Everyone was pretty hard core....which is good, but we have a huge potential to grow it from that.

I was impressed on how well organized everything was and kudos to all that arranged it. The vendor spaces were nicely staked out, portable bathroom there, decent parking area, sign in sheets, food, music, great location, etc. Great time for all that attended in my opinion. I met a lot of great people and had a blast doing it.

I look forward to the next meet.

Went great - you can see some comments above. I did see someone running around with a camera. They got a few pics of my car and a few others, so I hope they post them up.

I had an absolute blast and if anyone missed it, you missed out on a wonderful group of people. LOTS of engine parts for anyone needing, well, just about anything. Parts for all rotary vehicles, wide body kits, suspension parts, you name it. All the way down to key chains and shift *****. Gringo Grande even had a free-bee box with small parts. Parts that he could easily get $$ for, so that was nice to rummage through.

I had my eye on some Kilo Racing prepped 12A bridge port plates in great condition, but my money situation didn't allow for buying parts for future projects just yet. I need to finish planning and arranging my Turbo swap.

I was able to get some local contacts for RX7 salvage yards. I never knew any yards still had our cars in them!

If anyone missed this event you have to go to the next. Its great to have a group of rotary fans all together in one place......with parts!

Gringo Grande you're 100% correct, I had a blast in the swap meet, I met a nice group of people who are into rotaries and it was great.I had a lot of fun talking about all type of rotaries and some of the members projects etc.... As a vendor, it was a different story-Gringo Grande if you made of profit of 100.00 dollars consider yourself one of the lucky one if not the only one who made some money.I live in Kissimme which I know is a lot closer than your location and after paying for Gas,Tolls, food and fee, I was NEGATIVE -$45.00 no joke!!!!!
The problem was there was not enough flow of buyers, most of the people who attended the swap were vendors.Once again I had a great time meeting and talking to everyone but as a vendor I would suggest next time definitely have an auto show and maybe a couple of trophies for the best car of the show and maybe a sound competition to attract more buyers.I know this event could be very successful and huge since there is a BIG group of rotary fans in this State. Post the event in rotaries forum and some fliers, you need to promote the event and make it appeal to potential buyers and vendors.

Gringo Grande I was wondering if you were a magician, How in the world you place all those parts you brought in your FD and drive it to Gainesville and I know you had your seat all the way back because your tall as a Basketball player!!????. LOL

Haha! Very funny! I did play basketball in college actually! =)

Hmmm...maybe I should change my name to Gringo Grande the Parts Packing Magician...it does have a ring to it.

All I can say is I removed the passenger seat and had some boxes that let me pack everything nicely! I probably looked ridiculous but it was worth it. Had a great time meeting everyone and may try and make the Old Town event this month with some friends!
