It normally takes us about an hour and twenty minutes to drive up. If some want to meet earlier for breakfast at the Cracker Barrell in Morrisville then we can do that about 7:30. I will be at the Cracker Barrell at 7:30 AM on Sunday, August 7.

I'm there and game for the breakfast deal. Lets also plan on maybe taking a cooler or two for making lunch and drinks during the day once we get an idea on how many are going to make it. It would be great to get a nice caravan going up there and take over a corner of the parking lot once there.

Some of us will be seeing you on Sunday. I don't know how many will be coming up but it looks like we'll have 6-7 cars in caravan for sure. We'll find y'alls paddock and visit for a while.
Everyone remember its going to be 7:30 at the Cracker Barrell in Morrisville for breakfast and if you don't make it there then be at the Caribou Coffee shop in Briar's Creek by 9:00 AM with a full tank of gas and ready to roll. Tickets are $15 for the day.

Caravan to VIR on Sunday
Just a reminder that there will be a group leaving Raleigh Sunday morning to drive up to VIR for the SCCA Oak Tree National Race Sunday morning. If you want to eat breakfast at the Morrisville Cracker Barrel we'll be there between 7:30 and 8:00 and will be leaving from the Briar's Creek Caribou Coffee shop no later than 9:15 AM, that is FCST not FDAT(FS Daylight Time which is the time standard 99.5% of the world goes by, FDAT is FD Arrival Time or when the FD's show up for a group event and make their entrance) There won't be any entraces Sunday morning, if you get there after 9:15 then you better be prepared to catch us on Hwy 70, I-85, or the backroads of Durham County.

I hope everyone had a great time. We were not able to make it up there to race. I was only there on Saturday crewing for someone and I even got a couple of hot laps in the RX7, burned up the tires pretty good

We all met at the Cracker Barrel in Morrisville and had breakfast together Sunday morning and actually got to see the Beltline and I-540 without any traffic. They both make a great race course without all the traffic, not that we'd know anything about that kind of thing. After a nice, leisurely breakfast we drove over to Brair's Creek to wait for others to join the caravan. No one else showed, Jason called Josh and I called Christina's cells but neither of us got an answer. Left the Caribou Coffee shop at 0930 and had a nice drive up thru Roxboro to VIR. If it wasn't for all the Sunday drivers it would've been a creat drive, but whatcha gonna do it was Sunday after all!
called Johny when we went thru the gate and he said that they were having a fund raising event for Breast Cancer research and to go to the back of the paddock area if we wanted to run some parade laps. Well, knowing what a great cause it is and how charitable we all are I led everyone up to the signup queue to make a donation. We signed up and went directly on the track, didn't get a chance to unload or make a pit stop. Guess what, we had Sunday drivers on the course as well! Can't get away from them! The track watchers began waiving the tourists off the track after a couple of laps and we got to run a couple with just the sports cars on the course. The mini Coopers wouldn't come out and play, they had their own track time later that afternoon.
More to come with pics, later. . . .
I promise I'll post up tonight if I can get on the internet.

A few Pics from VIR Oak Tree Nationals
This is the hardcore RRDI drivers, Saturday at the GRR and Sunday up bright and early to meet at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, then a nice drive up to VIR for a day of watching SCCA races and cheering for anything rotary that was running:

The got more exciting as the day progressed, here is a jag in full racing colors on the prowl. It was the fastest car on the track but speed only counts if you stay on the course. He lost it in one of VIR's trecherous curves and finished out of the top 3 for the GT-1 class:

Here a pic of the only FD in GT-2 class. It was carb'd and ran all 14 laps:

There was even a cute little Neon SRT on the course and it had a very energetic showing:

And to all our surprise Jesse had brought his camo drifter up and I was fortunate enough to get a shot of it as it cruised the course:

To finish off the recap of our trip, here is a cool pic of an FB in full racing colors. He had a hard fought duel with 2 late 70's Z cars the entire race. He held them off until the final few laps and they took first and second places but the FB held on for third. One of the best races of the day.

It was a great time, and a beautiful day for racing. I want to thank everyone one for making the trip and sticking out the day.
