I thought Dick Lambert sold his 20b? Maybe not. But he does come to AL every year. "Cherokee County". He also has a single turbo white FD. But again I thought he told me he sold the 20b. Either way was this at the local track? I will have to go regain the title from the v8 guys....

Yes. I was just talking to Phil and I told him that I talked to a couple of more guys today and they said the guy was around his late 40s or early 50s. I would like to meet up with him if he passes thru again. And yes it was at a local track...North Alabama Speedway on Hwy 247 between Barton and Red Bay, Alabama. I use to drag motorcycles there and my GTs there a lot but haven't been over there in about 2 years. One reason is because half the guys there I've put in jail and don't feel to welcome. Gonna have to start going to Lawrenceburg, TN or Huntsville to watch and maybe drag some.

Anyway, it sounds like you've guys about narrowed down who this CYM guy is. I was for sure some of you could because I was banking on this being the only 20b CYM out there. Thanks for helping with the search.

Brad

Well Dick Lambert comes down from WI every year to AL (Cherokee County) . He is back in WI now. But I thought the last time I spoke with him he told me he sold the 20b CYM and kept the white FD, but maybe I got it backwards... Or maybe its the guy he sold it too?? Dick does know how to drag so I doubt it was him. Anyway, sounds like the guy is either a bad driver or playing his future victims. If it is Dicks old car he told me it was tuned in the low to mid 400's (low boost). I think that was enough for this 67 yr old!

Ugh, 8.50s in a 20B CYM? I did 8.5s in a bone stock CYM, right down to the original tires from 1993... such a waste. I'm sure his trap was relatively decent, but I can't think of any excuse to run 8.5s in any 20B powered FD in the 1/8th, unless I was comatose.

Well, lots of power and no traction= slow times. My old shop teacher had a stingray with a 555 v8 that made 685hp and only ran a 12 second 1/4 because he didn't hook till 4th gear (street tires). He had to be sandbaggin or didn't know how to drive. 3rotor he could go easy on the gas even if he had street tires and get better then 8.50 pass in the 8th.

You'll also see BB, MB, VR, and SSM these are all the abreviations for the car colors.

you didn't mention either of them being fd's. so the COLOR is what makes all the difference?

Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning? Usually when one speaks of a CYM, they're referring to the 1993 CYM FD. Didn't you get the memo?

Sounds like you're just mad because
A) You've never owned a CYM
B) I'm a better driver than you could ever hope to be. I've run 13 flats in a bone stock RX-7, right down to the original tires that came with it from the factory.
C) I'm sexier than you.

Dave, knock it off bro. There are enough trolls in the SE section. Don't start a flame war this anyone here please.

I was thinking that it was Steve Kan at first too, but I doubt Steve has the time to wait around and set up a good hustle. There aren't very many 20B CYM's floating around the U.S.

And 13B4me, you'll pretty much never have to worry about a 20B spooling a single late in the RPM band. A turbo that would have considerable lag for a 20B wouldn't fit in the engine bay of an RX. Just my experience though.

Question it all you want. I think there may even be one or two other people ET'ing lower or trapping higher than I am with stock FDs. I don't have the 13.0 timeslip handy as I gave it to the new owner of my CYM for his own records, but I still have a jpeg of my 1/8th mi time which was identical to the 1/8th mi on my 13.0 1/4mi timeslip.
I have numerous videos of my CYM running neck and neck with much more powerful cars than mine. 320RWHP F-bodies, 325RWHP, 12 second Mustang GTs, 12 second hatches. The driver makes all the difference
