I think it is a testament to how strong a rotary is. Even with broken apex seals it still runs over 8,000rpms for 5 minutes and it didnt even give up. The guys gave up cause the rotary barbecued the bumper.
Word. I'd like to see any other blown engine do 8000+ rpm for 5 minutes.

I saw a similar video where they redlined a vert for more than 5 minutes. (I think it was 8 minutes, and they left the radiator caps off.) Seeing that actually factored into my decision to get a FC.

Why would they run it without the radiator caps? What would that do?

I saw a video of some guys doing that to a 'vert.. not sure if it was an S4 or an S5. It was probably close to 10 minutes long, 9k rpm constant. They had a few more in the driveway, so I'm sure they had a reason to be doing it.

Have any of you guys seen that? It's incredible... yeah, it's sad that they'd ruin it if they have no reason other than being jackasses, but it has to bring you some joy. I mean.. that amount of time at 9k rpm.. dunno how old the motor was, but seeing such stamina brings a tear to my eye. :P

EDIT

just saw a post above about it, haha.

good to see!

thats still painful to watch no matter what condition the engine is in. its almost like watching an injured animal die.

..those flames were gnarly though

my guess would be they wanted to release the water pressure once it started to heat

when u run a rx7 at redline for that long im sure the water must've expanded alot.

but i do not condon any of these actions, not only cause im apart of the rotary club but cause anyone with any respect for a sports car would know better
