Went 2009 RX8 exploring at the NY Auto Show (DSL? still using that?)
I tried my best to take detailed pics with a "so-so" Olympus point and shoot my girlfriend had. Very crowded Saturday afternoon so it was quite hard to get good shots and not have 50 people get in the way at the same time
. Long lines to get a seat in the car too
.
I Gotta say though, it did look quite nice in person. It really does look much better in person than the photos released online. I Absolutely hated how the back look in the pictures but it did look classy in person.
The new 3 spoke steering wheel didn't bother me much other than the fact that it was upside down. Couldnt see the gauges though because they weren't lit. The R3 Recaro seats hold your upper torso in somewhat tightly. I'm 5'9" and ~ 155 lbs so it'd imagine that anyone over 6'0" and 200 lbs might have some trouble with the Recaros. The bolsters started to peal also.
I'm going to throw in the Speedsource demo car and the Furai pics too.

I dont have one from the show. I had a hard enough time taking single items of the car so getting a full shot without the car completely blocked by people was impossible. This is how it looks like.

Did someone really already steal the shiftknob?
That aside, I think the changes look NICE! They definitely give the RX-8 an extra boost, the Recaros look nice and I think the revised rear-end looks fantastic.

No the Mazdaspeed 8 didn't come out.
I think they remove the shiftknob and other random ***** before the car show. Don't want people stealing the ***** I guess.
The pictures don't do the car justice in my opinion. I really didn't like how it looked in pictures but when I saw it in person, my opinion definitely change. The quad LED circle taillights should give it a more modern look too.
I don't know why the grill opening is so small. That's why i took a picture of it. Quite interesting.

new 8 looks hell lot better than the existing one..rear never did anything for me..new rear little better still not crazy about it..i would love to get the wheels and throw them on my fc.
Toyo Kogyo,
Thanks for the pics.
I definately agree that the 09 RX8 looks much better then the previous iteration.
The rear end still is a little too high for my personal taste, but the rear tail lights are a vast improvement over the original design. I also like the new headlights and side markers.
All thats missing is a turbocharger....
