Angry VIDEO - my clutch failure

I went to the track last yesterday to meet up with some local Rx-7s. My first run was against a turbo Supra. After the burnout my car wouldn't go into gear. Here is what I found when I took the tranny out this morning. Do you think ACT will warranty the clutch? I think they should...

Yeah, the car makes about 350 rear wheel horse on the pump gas 12 psi boost I run on the street. The most it made was 454 @ 20 psi on 112 octane, but I barely ever turn it up that high. So it really sucks that the clutch failed after less than 5 months and before 5k miles. It's my true and only daily driver, I'm not an abuser. I really think ACT should warranty it.

I don't know, I guess I'll find out next week. Not a big deal but a premature failure this soon makes me wonder.

Well now I'm not 100% sure what brand it is (was). I think I was told it was an ACT, but someone in another thread said it doesn't look like it. I'll find out but in any case a REAL clucth is going back in. I absoultely HATE mickey mouse clutches.

If they do have a warranty it would certainly be void in the case of a burnout.

Not a lot of companies guarantee their products against deliberate damage

Not a big deal about the warranty, I know it's a wear part and was also used hard. But as far as the burnout these "race" clutches are supposed to be made for that type of use. Oh, well I'll just replace it with a stronger one and try not to burn it up.

got the same clutch on my car.

act will warranty the peice for 90 days. Any misuse or abuse will void the warranty. Tell them you were not drag racing and they might help you.

Thank you. Actually it's an EXEDY STAGE 2 clutch, not ACT.

I've had some clutches that only slipped on a hard 3-4 shift. I think the car makes more horsepower in 3rd and 4th, it may just be a sign of a weak clutch.
