Where do you get work done on them though? if you're not mechanically inclined.

That would be my biggest issue, a cool car that sits broken in my driveway

Getting parts for a skyline should be a bigger concern as oppose to having someone fix them.

Its just like any other car.

With an FD, you have to find someone who specializes in rotary in case you want to get a rebuild, it is done right and will last a long time. Not to mention its much more finnicky. You fix something, next week someone else fails.

Diagnosing is a big problem with our cars, not necessarily fixing the actual problem. I know thats what i go through.

the skyline is not a GT-R!

it's the NEO rb25 in an r34! otherwise known as the GT-T

Considering the popularity of the rb engines right now as swaps in to 240's, 350z's, and g35's i imagine it's no harder finding a tuner for them than it is finding a reliable rotary tuner.

Considering that a ecu reflash on a gt-r is good for more power than we can make on stock turbos, i'd hardly say they were "hard" to tune. Understeer is easily remedied and often an unfortunate consequence of AWD. The attessa et-s system also takes some getting used to. If you can find a video called "the skyline story" it's definitely worth the watch.

I'd take a midnight purple II gt-r. Maybe a rb30 w/ a 26 top end & turbos?

a skyline gt-r will almost always be faster than an fd. it just more car and that rb26 motor is just a beast. that said, the fd is always going to be more nimble. it's smaller and lighter, a truer sports car and lesser gt, whereas the gt-r is an ultra-high-performance gt. i do love gt-r's, so i'll take both =P
