New wheels (18" Axis Reverb)
New wheels (18" Axis Reverb)
The wheels are Axis Reverbs 18x8.5 fronts with +45 offset and 18x9.5 rears with +55 offset. Hollow spoke to keep the weight down. They are wrapped in Dunlop SP Super Sport Race tires 225/40/18 fronts and 255/35/18 rears. I will use these for the streets and the stock wheels for the track. Here are some crappy pics I took today. Sorry for the dirty car and quality of pics but my wife has the good Camera and she is out of town on business and it's too cold to wash the car. LOL I think lowering the car about 1.5 inches would set it off nicely.

Wow... those images are really weird. I'd swear those are 17s. Maybe just a visual thing since the car is not lowered. Get some lowering springs and you'll be good to go. Looks nice!
Ya, I am using a really old crappy camera. Like I said our good camera is with my wife who is out of town.

i'm not an expert on fd offsets but getting +55 offset wheels in the rear seems a little wrong. now i know they are 9.5 inchs wide but still...you can still see there is some room to improve. its not like its THAT obvious when you first glance at the car but when you take a closer look you can see.

Likewise a 9.5" wheel with a +55 offset 188.35mm back spacing vs. the stock 164.3mm so they will extend in 24.05mm more. This worried me but there is lots of clearance left.
For the fronts are 8.5" with a +45 offset so they have a 75.6. front spacing vs. stock 64.3 making them stick out 11.3mm more. Backspacing would be 165.65 vs. 164.3 so they extend inwards an extra 1.35 mm.
I had the stock wheels on one side of the car and the new ones on the other. The difference in front spacing was hardly noticeable in the back but the back spacing was visually noticeable. In all it looked only a little more aggressive which is exactly what I was looking for.
With all that said, I can definitely appreciate the fact that tastes differ and if you like something more aggressive that’s cool.
Not sure what you mean but I think you are saying it looks as though this style of wheel is more suited for a front wheel drive car. I first saw these wheels on a mustang and liked their understated look.

I am not sure what “makes” a wheel a FWD or RWD wheel but again I can appreciate the fact that everyone's tastes vary.

I'm not a fan of anything that sticks out more than stock. Maybe it's the pics but in person they look just right. Not too far in and not too far out.
