Buy which ever serves your needs best, don’t buy it for the sound.

But isn't that what it comes down to......unless you're puting out massive amounts of boost and need it vented in a hurry....doesn't it really boil down to how it sounds in the end.

Btw i'm running Turbo XS RFL....i like it....nothing too fancy....but its really F'n loud.

I initially started with the Apexi Dual Chamber, but it constantly leaked boost, even at stock levels, which is unacceptable. Plus the sound was very subdued, almost like it wasn't there. What a waste of money.

Then I tried the Greddy Type S, got a more aggressive sound, and it definately held the boost more tightly, but still I wanted a different sound, so...

I bought the HKS SSQ. At low rpm, lifting off the throttle produces a volley of rushing air under the hood, kind of like (ok I didn't want to do this but...) a "wiisssshhhh" sound. Shifting at higher boost levels will produce an even louder (above) air sound, but it is all but overpowered by a screeching whistle. Very loud... It's currently under the hood.

Its a personal preference regarding sound between the Type S and the SSQ. BOV performance for both is very good. I recommend either of these high quality units over the Apexi piece.

Everybody has an opinion over what "sounds good." I do believe sound IS important because they're expensive, and you're going to be hearing it go off all the time.

Regarding sound, at one point I felt the SSQ was too loud, attracted too much attention, whatever... So I swapped it out, and over time found myself being challenged out on the road more often by various cars that have no idea how fast an FD can be. I'm not interested in racing them so I just go about my business. Still it gets irritating.

But I missed the option to simply blip the throttle and let the SSQ sing, even a little bit. Not too many challenges after hearing that coming out of a car that looks like mine. I wouldn't race on the street anyway, but like I said, it can be irritating. Our cars sometimes attract the wrong attention, and for the ignorant, a little warning is all that is needed. This is simply my experience.

Hopefully others will post their opinions and experiences with other BOVs.

i like my turbosmart bov, at low rpm's it doesn't do to much noise so i kept my turbo identity hidden lol. and when a car come besides mine and start acting cool i just rev my engine and let them know i have something for them lol. the other driver face= priceless lol. but when you go at high rpm's it sound loud but not the sound like the subarus make, is more like a wooshhhhhh. i like it.

The TIAL is a great BOV, flows a ton of air and makes a nice sound, not too loud, not too high pitched. My big beef with the HKS SSQBOV is that everybody and their momma has one. They work very well and sound incredible, but I know three hondas near me that have them, and the owners sort of love the sound a little too much...

Just make sure you get the right spring for the TIAL.

vented stock BOV sounds the best IMO. I had a Greddy BOV for a while since my stock was leaking, and the stock replacment was on back order at the time, so I just bought an aftermarket one. My stock was three times as loud and sounded better. I'd save the money and just vent you stock one. Thats if you're worried about volume
