FC3S and AE86 touge run

My friend and I went out and drove some of our favorite local roads @ 5am yesterday. Here is some video that I took and put together. I tried making it switch up some so it doesn't get dull. You can't see the view from how dense the treeline is but it's mixed in there from a pulloff @ the top.

Nice video but you should have not put the music on and let us listen to the sound of the car...also why did the ae86 leave you behind.

yeah but i was playing my music... so it didn't really go good. next video i film ill leave it w/ none so you can have the driving sounds in there.

i told him to get in front of me on that straight so i could film his car in front of me. you know so he could have some footage of himself driving. but Steve is a better driver than I am. thats why he left me. lol.

I stopped watching halfway...I can understand if you didn't know the road but your car has a lot more in it. Practice rev-match downshifting/engine braking and first try to engine brake through the course to get a feel of the car. Also I refuse to cut the double yellow at all times (especially on blind turns) but thats your choice...good timing though, not too busy and not too dark. Great footage too, care to share details of your camera/mount setup?

i know all the techniques and such as rev-matching, heel-toe and shifting the weight of my car. i just choose not to drive the **** out of it. it can't handle it. every time i run the mountains i have to check oil and coolant every time we stop b/c its engine is tired and worn out.

i know the roads like that back of my hand as well b/c hell they are 30 minutes away. but me trying to keep up w/ Steve is funny. i can't really but its all good.

lane crossing... i don't do it unless i feel safe about it. <- that being said i make sure that i can have a clear view of what im about to carve into and that there is no oncoming traffic. hell i like staying in my lane and driving the road for what it is, but i wanted to at least try and keep up a/ Steve for a while. lol.

seems decent except for the music. leave the music out (who drives with music anyways) and let those engines roar. you also didn't seem to be pushing it very hard...but whatever

lol, find the part thats worn out and tired and replace it My kevin landers basic rebuild with 32,000 miles of never being warmed up (besides the winter) and very frequent redlining along with a few times that it was run with low oil is still running great. I took it to one of the WV mountains yesterday for the first time and drove the **** out of it, going from 6-8k in 2nd and a little in third and all I got was a little brake fade towards the end and the usual acceleration loss (that I'm not used to) caused by the high elevation and drove it home (1.5 hour drive). RX7s love to rev, the real way to drive one is to keep it in high RPMs Driving a well running mildly modded RX7 though a mountain at night is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes IMO.

Well damn aren't you lucky, hell of a drive for me. The local half mile twistys around here are OK though as long as deer don't jump out in front of you lol.

Like I said it was your choice, I would assume that there would be at least a little traffic seeing as how its paved well and has lane markings but that doesn't mean much at 5 am apparently lol. I also simply don't like the idea of pissing off the locals and normal people driving from point A to B by having them even see me in the opposite lane.

With that said I'm glad to see another RX7 in the mountains and not on a highway or a dragstrip, great footage

I love the Mountains! I've driven the FC hard a couple of times up in them at around Midnight, lots of fun (no Lane crossing, high beams for person in front, friends must keep a 1.5 second space at minimum). I've had two friends that tried to be cool during a few runs... better safe than sorry, didn't go too well for their cars... (though they drove away and were fine physically).

Being alone with no one to pressure you is 10x better just you and the sound of Rotary... Going at whatever pace is comfortable. If you are with friends and one of them starts to drive beyond their ability, slow down.

I agree 100%, if you don't take it seriously it WILL bite you in the ***. I've witnessed a few wrecks too and well..some people should just stick to drag racing, lol. And yes being alone is better when you're first learning a road and/or your car but competition is always fun Just as long as you have good radios to warn friends about any hazards or unexpected sharp turns.

being alone in the mountains in a 17yr old car pushing it. yeah sounds fun. i go by myself some but not all of the time. its always good to have someone with you where cell phones have no reception just in case something were to happen.

a 1.5 second space. thats just enough time for you to realize your fucked and have no time to react ...and you guys thought i was a newb @ this.

If you don't know how to restore/fix/build a 17 year old car to be driven hard you should sell it and buy a new one, just my opinion. There is a SLIGHT chance for something to break without any warning even after you've looked over everything but thats a chance I'm willing to take. There are benefits of bringing people though like you said. As for the space...when you first started out there was definitely waay less than 1.5 seconds of space b/w you and your friend...assuming all drivers have complete control of their cars thats easily enough time to react. When I hit a deer there was a 2.5RS Impreza (sp) about a car length behind me on a blind corner that I took at about 50mph and was easily able to swerve enough to avoid hitting me same with 3 more cars behind him. I just noticed your tanabe sticker, remember I've done all my runs with 100% stock suspension. If you can't max out the handling capabilities of a stock car you shouldn't mod it...

You wanted comments, I'm giving you my opinion. The video showed you going slow as hell and on top of that you were cutting the double yellow, completely unnecessary (with the speed you were traveling) and pretty reckless..but like I said great footage and awesome pics, at 2:00 I was cracking the **** up when you passed the cows..hahahaha

the way I look at it I much rather be safe than sorry. The whole idea behind going to hte mountains for a drive is to come home with the car in one peace rather then on the back of a flat bed.
