I'm running a bnr stage 2 with rtek 2.1. With an rtek 1.7 or 1.8 you will need an safc. So the price of the rtek 2.1 pays off fast.

yes its very easy to use. You just need the palm pilot and then a wideband to monitor afrs and you can be tuning basic tuning pretty easily

The power all has to do with how much fuel, quality of the tune, and supporting mods you go with.

To run it this is what you would need at minimum:

- Stock 550cc primary. Most say that you can get away with this and some say you don't. I listened to the side of you don't and went higher. But your choice.
- 720cc secondary
- Walbro fuel pump
- Boost controller, not realy needed but why would you be going with a bigger turbo without more power right?
- Boost gauge
- Wideband 02
- Aftermarket intake
- Exhaust
- Fuel pump rewire

That's all you really need.

Here is a list of what I went with, and a goal of 300hp. Still not running yet, the build is still underway. :

- BNR Stage 2 hybrid
- Rtek 2.1
- Racing Beat REV TII exhaust
- Greddy Front Mount Intercooler
- 750cc RC Engineering injectors - primary
- 1000cc RC Engineering injectors - secondary
- Walbro fuel pump
- Fuel pump rewire
- Apexi power intake
- Custom TID
- Apexi Spec II Blow Off Valve
- Defi blue racer boost gauge
- PLX wideband
- Greddy Profec B Spec II
- Removed emissions

With what you need all has to do with your power goals. 300hp your tmic will be heat soaked. I still went fmic just cause I got a super good deal on it.

Hope that helps.

It's best to go higher cc's as opposed to maxing out a lower cc. That's why I went with the 1000cc secondary instead of 750cc. Gives alot of headroom. The prices on injectors are virtually the same.

The car should run just fine with the 550-1000s. The secondarys don't come on unless you are pushing the car. so as long as you are just driving normally it shouldn't be an issue. That being said. You can just ues the tuning features of the 2.1 to take out some of the fuel under boost so that it won't run pig rich.

Take a look at this thread. It will answer some of your questions probably.

Good luck.

Hmm, if I may thread jack. I just purchased a TII ECU with the Rtek 1.7 in it. I am going to be running the stock turbo for a while with 720cc secondaries. I just learned you cant tune much with the 1.7 so do I need a SAFC II or should I just send in this old ecu and get a 2.1 put into it?

The 1.7 will work just fine if you're running the stock turbo. But if you want the ability to tune it, go with the 2.1. It's 10x better than an SAFC.

self tuning with rtek 2.1 is easy and i agree with everyone works lots better than SAFC. Just make sure you have a good accurate wideband.

I noticed power gains, i want to tune for economy as well but i have to rebuild my motor again before i retune.

I believe 4 720cc should run fine with out any issues. The issue is when your mix your primary and secondary injectors with different flow rates. For example 550cc primaries and 1600cc secondaries would be a big NO NO NO. From what I have read throghout these threads is the best results is to have both primary and secondary injectors the same size for example 720cc/720cc or 1000cc/1000cc. That is what I am planning on doing with my setup.

I have heard the opposite. From what I've read, it is perfectly fine to mix the primary/secondary injector sizes as long as you have the means to accommodate the variance in sizes (rtek, haltech, megasquirt, etc). I have heard that there may be issues when transitioning from primary to secondary injection when you are building boost, but from what I have seen this can be tuned out with a proper controller without too much hassle .

My plan is to go 550/1000cc, and from what I've read and seen it works well and is a good setup.

I asked Bryan@BNR about the same question, but with the Stage 3 I am getting. He said as long as I had an adjustable fuel pressure regulator 4 720's should be ok with the upgraded pump and FMIC.
